"Why would government investigators from the Office of Personal Management be asking employees of the Office of Special Council about their religious affiliation?

A struggle is under way in Washington, D.C. between Catholic conservatives trying to uphold the rule of law and homosexual activists trying to twist it to their ends."

We need to continually keep our government leaders in prayer. The irony here is the ones who scream “tolerance” are the least tolerant of all. . .and won’t be happy until those who disagree with them are silenced.

Despite the fact that many refuse to believe this, there is religious discrimination in the country. It goes under many guises, such as “tolerance”, “political correctness” (duh!) and “anti-discrimination”.

This is another classic assault of the anti-religious against Christians, in this case, specifically Catholics.

Harassment is clear and overt. This will not get picked up by the most major news outlets because they are part of the anti-religious crusade.

It will soon be explicitly illegal to be a practicing Christian and hold public office or work in the government bureaucracy. Not by any law passed by congress, but by a ruling of some judge.

it is apparent that under the New Senate Observant catholics will not be allowed on the USSC, I doubt they will have much luck getting on circuit courts either,

Unfortunately, the article didn’t tell us why the investigators were asking the questions. That’s somewhat important.

Under what circumstances is it appropriate to ask somebody what church they worship that? Under what circumstances is it appropriate to ask a somebody what the religious affiliation is? When discussing ones salary why would it be relevant what their religion is? Under what circumstances is it appropriate to falsely denigrate a person’s education? Under what circumstances is it appropriate to falsely denigrate a Catholic university? What specific questions asked do you think would be appropriate under any circumstances?

If they were investigating preferential employment treatment based on religion.

But they weren’t And even under this wishful scenario how would that justify denigrating degrees from ave maria university?

It’s perfectly OK if they are investigating preference given to Ave Maria grads. I don’t know if they are. The article didn’t tell us.

Didn’t tell us what?

Have you any evidence that there were any allegations that any preferences were being given because of religion or university attended. And how would falsely claiming Ave maria was not acredited be acceptable under this unsubstantiated scenario?

If they started asking everyone if they engaged in homosexual behavior would that be accpetable? What if someone alleged that homosexuals were being given hiring preferences-would that justify investigating their sexual behavior?

The didn’t tell us the reason for the investigation and the reason for asking the questions.

If they were investigating allegations of preferential employment treatment for homosexuls, then it would be their responsibility to ask if the folks engaged in homosxual behavior.

There is nothing special about either gays or Ave Maria.

I have no information about allegations of hiring preferences. You simply asked a reasonable question about what conditions would justify asking about religion. Do you dispute my answer?

Yes-your answer assumes that there must be a quota on the number of Catholics that a Govt agency can have working for it. we know that is not true…

I note that seem to think there are cases where it is reasonable to ask people about their religious beleifs BUT do not believe there are instances where its ok to ask them about their sexual behavior. What is interesting is that the former is Consitutionally protected-the latterr is not

My answer assumes nothing. It simply provides conditions under which it is justifiable to ask about religion. That’s what you asked. Is it impossible to provide preferential treatment on the baiss of religion?

Your sentence lacked a subject, but I will take a stab at it. It is justifiable to ask about both religion and homosexuality if the investigation concerns preferential government hiring based on either.

Investigation of neither preferential nor discriminatory hiring based on religion is banned by the constitution. Religion is a category included in most anti-discrimination laws.
