Different topic. If it was a single family member, (ie parents die and an aunt offers to raise the children) I can see adoption. Generally speaking, I think adoption agencies should look for a stable home with both mother and father.Would you object to a single man or a single woman adopting?
I think this is a hard topic because many are already denied the chance to live with both their mother and father, through divorce or single motherhood. I am fully aware that while we discuss the need for both mother and father, many heterosexuals fail to provide that to their own biological children. This is a hard topic tho especially for college students these days…
Earlier in the thread some brought up other Catholic teachings on chastity. Those teachings connect with this topic because they hold all accountable. But our teachings don’t just stop at personal accountability. We believe Jesus Christ died and rose again to make us part of God’s family. We can be the adopted sons and daughters of God. He extends this offer to the divorced, and the children of divorce, to the homosexual and heterosexual. God invites all of us to a life of redemption in Christ, and He redeems our whole being, including our sexuality. Contrary to the opinion of those who think humans must act on every sexual urges, chastity is possible. If we act on our every urge, then we become slaves to our urges. Catholic teachings help free us from such slavery and instead offer to us a better way to live. That means a better way of life for both us and our children.
