I would, personally, like to see the Pope re-affirm the Church’s teaching on sex and sexuality (not that he hasn’t already done so in the past) while addressing some of areas of discrimination which effect homosexuals/transexuals (e.g. homelessness). I’m sure doing that would disappoint just about everyone, but in my very humble opinion it might be the most prudent way to address the situation. If the Pope, and the Catholic Church in general, take an interest in the welfare of persons within the LGBT community, it becomes much more difficult for outsiders to pigeonhole Catholic sexual morality into the “bigot” category.

It will be reaffirmed in a big way once the Holy Father writes the Apostolic Exhortation which is customary after an Ordinary Synod. Expect it sometime in 2016.

Why don’t they send him a “petition”.

Seems the "in " thing to do nowadays. . . .

Cardinal hopes gay Masses can be rolled out throughout Church in England and Wales
31 July 2015 12:30 by Joanna Moorhead

A Westminster diocesan initiative to extend a special welcome to lesbian and gay Catholics at a regular Mass has proved so successful that Cardinal Vincent Nichols would like it to be rolled out nationwide, his lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) liaison priest has said.

The Masses, at the Jesuit Farm Street Church in central London, replaced the more controversial, so-called “gay Masses” that were designated for LGBT Catholics at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Soho until 2013…MORE: (Including a document in the upcoming synod to change two terms with regard to the LGBT movement)

As usual, the Tablet, aka the UK’s “Bitter Pill”, gives voice only to dissenters and twists Catholic teaching for their own depraved purposes.

Ah the NYT, that pinnacle of Catholic Theology! I’m sure the Holy Father will get right on their concern.
So-and-so journalist/columnist was raised in a Catholic family - of course the journalist/columnist isn’t practicing, hasn’t been since the age of 17, and has a cursory knowledge and understanding of the faith but that’s besides the point! He/she has Dan Savage and Andrew Sullivan as reference points - they’re just a phone call/text/tweet/email away! Add in lapsed Catholics on staff and you get a rich, diverse and in-depth well of wisdom!

Lol
Meaning, they remain theological experts on Catholicism just because they went to Catholic school.🤷 Nothing against Catholic school.

The article states that there is “confusion” as to where the pope stands. But in reality, the confusion is really just a refusal to accept the Church’s constant and clear teaching to love the sinner, but not the sin.

For me, the confusing part is how to go about doing this. On Meetup, I ran a woman’s club. An advertised Transgender (on the persons pic and profile) had joined my group. I never met this person or had any interaction, but out of the blue, they had messaged me to separately go out to lunch. I never answered back, mainly because I was unsure if this were some sort of “date” and had no clue what this person’s intentions were. I’m not sure I would go out with any random person without some type of previous interaction. But later, I felt bad. I knew this person was lonely–a freak if you will, who really just needed a friend.😦

It was probably best that you didn’t respond since no one needs a friend who thinks they’re a freak. 🤷

Perhaps she wanted to meet with you in person to make sure it would be okay for her to join with the women’s group?

A freak? If that is how you think of people, it is probably best that you didn’t respond to her.

What I meant is that

this person is an outsider, on the fringes or normal–they are different. My heart goes out to this person because of that. I’m sure they are excluded in social situations because usually, humans feel comfortable around people who are like themselves.
I myself am somewhat of a “freak”, an outsider in my own way. Once I became divorced, my 6 kids and I are no longer invited to other family parties etc. unless they are of my own extended family.

That is what I meant. I did not mean it to be hurtful in any way. That was not my intention.

We have gone from regarding homosexuality as a disgusting crime against nature, a mortal sin and a felony in most states, to not only accepted but advocated and protected by law. Not only protected by law but granted the ability to “marry” just like normal people. Amazing! The tail is now wagging the dog, the crazies are running the asylum, black is now…white. In my humble opinion, if this kind of evil is pushed very much farther, the decent, moral people of this once-great country of ours will rise up and disregarding our doubtful Supreme Court, return these perverts to the closet from whence they came. Pray that the American people will return to sanity, throw the Liberals and Progressives into Gehenna and elect leaders that remember how America used to be before the Barbarians gained control. This will be the chance for those deluded Americans who voted for the anti-Catholic, anti-military Buffoon-in-Chief (TWICE) to redeem their sorry selves and elect someone who is not only competent, but Godly as well.

St. Paul - Romans 1:18-32:
The wrath of God is indeed being revealed from heaven against every impiety and wickedness of those who suppress the truth by their wickedness. For what can be known about God is evident to them, because God made it evident to them. Ever since the creation of the world, his invisible attributes of eternal power and divinity have been able to be understood and perceived in what he has made. As a result, they have no excuse; for although they knew God they did not accord him glory as God or give him thanks. Instead, they became vain in their reasoning, and their senseless minds were darkened. While claiming to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for the likeness of an image of mortal man or of birds or of four-legged animals or of snakes. Therefore, God handed them over to impurity through the lusts of their hearts for the mutual degradation of their bodies. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie and revered and worshiped the creature rather than the creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. Therefore, God handed them over to degrading passions. Their females exchanged natural relations for unnatural, and the males likewise gave up natural relations with females and burned with lust for one another. Males did shameful things with males and thus received in their own persons the due penalty for their perversity. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God handed them over to their undiscerning mind to do what is improper. They are filled with every form of wickedness, evil, greed, and malice; full of envy, murder, rivalry, treachery, and spite. They are gossips and scandalmongers and they hate God. They are insolent, haughty, boastful, ingenious in their wickedness, and rebellious toward their parents. They are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Although they know the just decree of God that all who practice such things deserve death, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.
