This is hardly a backlash and has nothing to do with gay and transgender TV. The show cancellations are simply a result of bad TV.

Just look to the Emmys for proof. The TV series Transparent, revolves around a Los Angeles family and their lives following the discovery that the person they knew as their father Mort (Jeffrey Tambor) is transgender.

The show has 8 wins and 21 nominations including wins in Outstanding Direction for a Comedy series and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.
Maybe the writer of the essay stretched his opinion too much, but he is on to something, IMO.

I think “agenda TV” typically is awful, or other programming that was previously good turns sour. It tends to ruin narratives and get preachy.
I think that is the bigger issue. Forced plots get old, regardless of the agenda. Look at how poorly serious movies perform against entertaining movies. The whole sexual inclusiveness has just been pushed way too much in what is supposed to be leisurely entertainment.

That is homophobia though. I guess I don’t understand how anyone can be upset or “repulsed” by two people of the same gender kissing or even being a couple.
It is hard to understand what one does not feel personally. It should suffice that some are repulsed by it though. Would you be repulsed by romantic affection between and older man and a child, kissing passionately? It is that feeling that people feel. God has made us so that in the such a display is repellent, which is why children are generally safe with most adults. Yet there are some that are morally disordered, perhaps even through no fault of their own. Likewise, homosexuality is morally disordered. Even though such attraction is not a sin, it is natural for people to be as repulsed by it as they would anything else that is morally disordered.

It is not homophobia, as fear is not an issue.

I find it repulsing and unnatural as well.

Mary.
I guess I do too, in that I don’t really want to see two men kissing. But I’m not going to freak out and panic and run in the opposite direction. And I’m not going to be a jerk to any gay couples I see just because I don’t endorse their lifestyle.
I can imagine. That does not mean I hate gay people or want to kill them all. 👍👍
“I don’t want to kill them” is a pretty low standard, though. I hope you would also agree that gay people still deserve basic human kindness and decency.

Absolutely. Basically if I see them kissing I just don’t look long in their direction.

Does not mean I have a phobia of them.

And no, they do not deserve to be spat on, beaten, or denied and education or room because of sexual orientation.

I don’t think I’m the only one who gets offended with this junk. And yes, I won’t watch tv shows with these themes, or the movies he mentions.

I feel sorry for the so called transgendered children because they have parents who feed into this thinking and instead of believing test all children differ in their likes and dislikes, such as girls liking boy things and boys liking doe girl things, let their children decide what gender they should be instead of getting them help or better yet leaving them alone.

I have a very good example of this. We raised a daughter who in today’s culture would be considered transgender by some. She was not a tomboy, but gated girly things and dresses.

She loved to play with trucks and cars. She built model airplanes in middle school . While in elementary school I was always getting asides from teachers who noticed “she didn’t comb her hair”. Probably now she’d be sent to a counselor of some kind. Oh, and she l loved taking things apart like her bikes.

By the tine she grew into her teens, she then did like boys and dating but still loved ships. She ended up joining the Navy, and trained in electronics and eventually became a computer analyst after leaving. She’s now married to a retired Naval officer and now she takes computers apart and modifies them.

And yes at times she expressed a desire to be a boy when she was little but instead of freaking out just realized every child is different. So maybe that’s why I think this who,e trans thing is out of line and get disgusted with people saying its normal.

Guess I’m part of the backlash and proud of it too.
I can relate somewhat to what you are saying. I was very much so a tomboy when I was a child and I loved playing with boys toys. I can remember I always tried to hide it from other children at my school cause I knew they would have laughed at me. When I reached my teens I grew out of it and started liking boys. You are so right, it is a faze children go through and do grow out of it.

It so sad that in today’s society children can’t be left alone to enjoy their childhood without this kind of thing being pushed down there throat!

But aren’t the Emmys awarded by those in television?
The shows that were dropped seem to be dropped due to low numbers of viewers. Are there high numbers of viewers for the program you mentioned or does it seem to be playing to a niche market?

Emmys are awarded to quality programming and yes they are administered by organizations associated with television. But just looking at past winners, it’s pretty easy to ascertain that good television will be reflected in viewership and ratings and not vice versa. Since the show is listed under comedy, it’s hardly a niche market.

On a side note, I haven’t watched the show even though I think Jeffrey Tambor is a great actor. Nor do I like being force-fed the transgender lifestyle and I certainly wouldn’t dismiss there is an agenda.

IMO I think the author of the post is simply off-track saying that cancellations are a result of a backlash associated with gay and transgender TV.

Although even you (hopefully) would acknowledge (and the author does make a good point still) that a show like We Will Rise, which is directly about the LGBT movement and was overhyped by its network to the 12,000 degree, came in dead last in the ratings—that DOES say something about “LGBT fatigue.”👍👍

Hopefully it goes without saying that that was satirical, but as there’s no “tone of voice” in a post I figured I’d better say it. 🙂 (I don’t want to traumatized anyone or get myself reported.)

From the linked article:
“Hollywood’s demonic push to come between parent and child, to strip our children of their innocence long before it is healthy, is one of many reasons millions are turning elsewhere for entertainment.”

I’d add that it’s not just Hollywood. Publishers of textbooks, children’s reading books, boards of education and teachers’ associations are all part of the “demonic push” too-- the latter two often in league with planned “parenthood.”

Heh. I guess we’ve got an old time “race to the bottom” on our hands.
Been in an elementary school classroom or library lately? I am, frequently, in the course of my work.
Dismissive denial proves nothing.
Personally I’m against the systematic sexualization of children.

The linked essay is disgusting, small minded, and hate filled. Further, it’s just bad logic. Two cancellations that happened to include characters with themes related to particular individuals do not a backlash make.
The essay was the exact opposite to what you describe. It was to the point and told the objective truth with a little humor. 🙂

The decisions were probably finanical in nature.
