Gay cartoons

Wait a minute, you are worried about gay Muppets, when Gonzo is already married to a chicken! hahaha
 
Well, it needs to be pointed out that Mickey Mouse has never married, and lives with 3 young boys, supposedly “nephews,” but you never know…
 
I think you all are reading a bit too much into characters. SU, AT and LoK/A:TLA are all super shows. SU has some wonderful themes and is a pleasure to watch. I barely got into Avatar but it is super. AT I need to watch more of. To me it doesn’t matter what the characters are as long as it is entertaining.
 
It’s been aeons since I’ve seen any television, but I’m curious, has Disney or Nickelodium(sp?) made a show with a transgendered character yet?

If not, it can’t be too far down the pike, I would guess.🤷
 
Life Site News did an article discussing this very topic last year. Out of all the shows that are mentioned, I excuse Steven Universe. I’ve been a fan of it since last July, and it’s an amazing series compared to the other garbage on CN (excluding We Bare Bears and Gumball). In the beginning, I was concerned about all the talk about the supposed “lesbians” in the series proper, but after watching it, it really isn’t the case if interpreting it literally. The Gems (who are alien gemstones) are genderless, though they mostly appear female and use female pronouns. It has undertones, sure, but unlike AT and LoK, they’re subtle enough and non-offensive to where it won’t be an issue for the kids watching. It also allows other countries to change certain aspects of it (ex, making Ruby male). One relationship in the show (Pearl/Rose Quartz) hasn’t even been proven yet whether it was romantic or not (I say it wasn’t).

The way SU’s handling it is the way it should be done, if at all. Either be super subtle, or don’t do it. The other shows are doing it wrong, especially *Clarence * that portrays a character with two moms. Other kids shows have had in the past sly references to homosexuality, but it was done for fun, and they never took it seriously. In fact Nickelodeon’s Harvey Beaks has a character that could be perceived as gay as he’s obsessed with the main lead, but it’s done for laughs and ambiguous.

Oh no! Kids will see that everyone is different and some kids have parents of the same gender. They are forever ruined by seeing something so normal. Now I have to watch Clarence. I already like Adventure Time.

Were you being sarcastic when you said “seeing something so normal”? :confused: I still don’t believe that should be shown on kids’ entertainment, though.

Believe me, you don’t want to watch Clarence. The main character is dumb, not in the good way, and the creator is a pervert (he sexually assaulted someone in the studio, due to him having a mental disorder). Give SU a try instead. Steven is a better portrayal of a young boy and has more intelligence than that other show. It’s also the first CN show created by a woman.

First I think you just committed slander unless you can show the creator is a “pervert”. I will give any show a try once. No I was not being sarcastic.

Here’s an article about the incident. It happened a few years ago, but yeah, whatever he did, he didn’t do it in his right mind so he’s not deliberately a pervert.

There are many things that happen in real life that just shouldn’t be portrayed in media, especially if it’s for kids. Because homosexuality/gay “marriage” are controversial issues and not everyone agrees with it, (and also some countries won’t even air shows that do that, such as Russia, which means companies lose money in the long run) I think it’s better if it’s not shown explicitly.
