They want the word “disordered” removed from talking about LGBQ. Why are they so desperately seeking approval from everyone? If LGBQ were so confident of their lifestyle and so convinced that’s it’s not sinful, then why do they need the Church to approve?

My guess is that many LGBT people are your brothers and sisters in Christ and baptized members of the Catholic Church. That would be a good reason alone to change the language.

Should they also change the language to say abortion, murder, adultery, etc, is no longer a grave sin? Because that would make baptized brothers and sisters in Christ feel better, too.

Homosexuality is disordered, plain and simple.

Well, if they can recommend an alternative word that doesn’t obfuscate the plain truth that sexual attraction and and sexual contact is properly only directed between a man and a woman validly married to one another, I’m all ears.

My guess is they are not interested in that.

Well that is your view on homosexuality. There are others in this world that do not feel the same and that is also alright. To each there own everyone on both sides has their reasons. I personally can not judge anyone because I am not God.

To address the other topic here. No one is talking about abortion here or adultery. Its about homosexuality. They are two different topics. Changing one thing does not mean change the other or everything.

Have a nice day!🙂

No, it’s not my view. It’s God’s view. The Bible is VERY clear about homosexuality.

I mentioned abortion and adultery because if we are trying to appease the feelings of one group, why not the other?

You have a nice day, too! 😃

Love the sinner and hate the sin. Plan and simple.

homosexual ACTS are grave sins, just like other sexual sins conducted by heterosexual people.

Sodomy (which includes homosexual acts, anal sex, oral sex, etc) is grave sin, even among married heterosexual couples.

But today’s society wants to pretend that sodomy isn’t sinful because so many married husbands and wives enjoy preforming sodomy on each other.

Just look at Wikipedia’s definition of sodomy: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sodomy

Or the Webster Dictionary’s definition of sodomy: merriam-webster.com/dictionary/sodomy

God Bless

I must admit that the existence of an “LGBT Catholics Westminster Pastoral Council” is a surprise to me. These sorts of organizations always seem to leave some doubt as to whether or not the organization supports chastity or not. The fact is, the Church, along with mother nature, recognizes marriage as possible only between a man and a woman. I would hope that the Synod were recognize that as well.

I think the Catechism’s approach to homosexuality is very sensitive and pastoral, as are the people involved with Courage.

It doesn’t work like that. The truth is the truth whether not “our brothers and sisters in Christ” take umbrage at it. The Church wasn’t founded to make everyone feel good about the messy and disordered parts of their lives. The Church was founded to help everyone overcome them

Yes, lying is always good way to make people feel better about themselves. I forgot the purpose of religion was to validate one another. That’s nonsense.

If the language is appropriate and accurately describes something, to change it would be to lie.

Consider this: Homosexuality is called “disordered” because the male penis and female vagina are “ordered” for each other. Man is “ordered” for female, and female is “ordered” for male.

The penis is not “ordered” for the anus…therefore, it is “disordered”.

Thus, it is disordered for men to have relations with men, and it is disordered for women to have relations with women.

This is just biology and natural law.

Do you not know that the unjust will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators nor idolaters nor adulterers nor boy prostitutes nor practicing homosexuals nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor robbers will inherit the kingdom of God.

I Corinthians 6:9-10

Paul seems pretty clear to me in one of the very first books of the New Testament. The only problem I have is that some people committing some of the other sins listed in the same sentence claim to be better than practicing homosexuals. That is not supported by Scripture. It also does not mean that because everyone is a sinner, that no one is responsible. Paul’s words, inspired by the Holy Spirit should bring us all to our knees, not to excuses or denial.

Well, if there is ever a Robber’s Pride Parade or courts of law recognizing a person’s “alternative property-rights orientation”, I’ll be right there on the front lines with you condemning stealing. 😃

I think you just described Socialism pretty well.😉

Yes and I’m going to out on a short limb here and just venture a guess and say Pope Francis considers LGBT baptized Catholics his brothers and sisters. He said even the non Christians of other religions with whom he was with in NY at ground zero were his brothers and sisters.

I’ll go out on the limb with you Sy Noe and totally agree.

It remains very clear to Catholics for sure. And not to go into the understandings of other Christians as it is not difficult to find their reasoning with simple searches on the internet. But to many other Christians and their denominations as they have reexamined their understandings of God, it is not as very clear.
