I would be perfectly okay with someone refusing me service because I’m Catholic, white, male, straight, or for any other reason. I think it is wrong and rather foolish, but they should be allowed to do it.Right.
If the renter said “I won’t rent to anyone who is Catholic” or “I won’t rent to anyone who is against same-sex couples or marriage”…that would leave out most of the people on this forum I imagine, and they would most likely be offended by the discriminatory rule and feel it is unfair.
But the renter would be renting by abiding by the morals and ethics she follows, as many here suggest the landlord to do.
So for those who think the landlord is okay to not rent to the gay couple…I do assume you think it would be perfectly fine for a landlord to not rent to you merely on the basis that you are Catholic or because you are against same-sex marriage or couples, yes? Because your sexual ethics goes against her morals?
The agent might see you wearing a crucifix and say, “Oh, no…I’m sorry…but the landlord specifically doesn’t want to rent to Catholics and told me so…she doesn’t agree with your moral belief system…”
But I sense you would be okay with this, yes?
