Gay kiss protest against Pope to take place in Germany

Thirty three gay and lesbian organisations are preparing to contest the Benedict XVI’s visit to Germany, as they did previously in London, Barcelona and Zagabria. Last November, during Joseph Ratzinger’s visit to Barcelona, gay activists kissed each other passionately in front of the Popemobile but the Pope didn’t even see them. In the Catalan capital, the “kiss of protest” of over 200 gays and lesbians took place as Benedict XVI drove past the Sagrada Familia.

I find it fascinating that an expression of love (a kiss) is now used as a political statement against God and His Vicar.

Kiss-ins aren’t a new protest tactic. I remember one being held at my university 30 years ago.

As long as the protesters are peaceful and not obstructing the Pope it seems benign.

(*I do not mean all gay people, just the ones who deliberately flaunt their sexuality in a needlessly provocative and offensive way).

The attention given to these shrieks for attention is ridiculous. When B16 consecrated the Gaudi Cathedral ,in Barcelona, the BBC gave a lot of coverage to the 200 gays and lesbians kissing, but said nothing of the 250,000 Catholics who participated in Benedict’s visit and the consecration.’

So true! And Pope Benedict XVI will not harshly judge them either. Instead, I know he will be kind, merciful, loving, and compassionate as we all should be. But let it be clear that there is no kindness, mercy, or love when it comes to homosexual activities.
