Gay marriage OK because homosexuals born that way and deserve to have romantic relationships too?

You miss my point, i used to believe as you do, but now believe I have a moral obligation to oppose moral wrongs, I am not supposed to just let them do it it is between two consenting adults-my church teaches me it is a moral wrong, I can either say church you are wrong, you dont know what you are talking about or follow the teachings of the church, I choose to follow the teachings of the church.

Yeah? I’m sure gays everywhere are just lighting up your phone to ask your opinion on their sex life. Please, man, unless they know you and/or have some type of friendship with you. they don’t care. “Sometimes I think they have no life if not for me.” You sound rather solipsistic.

You allow them rights you believe are wrongs because we live in a DEMOCRATIC SOCIETY. Why don’t you go ahead and outlaw lying? Send police into people’s bedrooms to make sure none of that there goshdarn anal sex is goin on? Advocate your position all you want, but don’t legislate it.

No. No man, it does not. Sexuality is a LOT more complicated than that. Sexual activity between members of the same sex is certainly homoerotic/homosexual but that does not mean that is their sexual orientation.

How do you know ? I get calls from complete strangers every night asking my opinion on almost everything, just last night someone called and asked what breand of dishwasher I thought was the best , had a devil of a time getting them off the phone.

Yes they care desperately what I think- or else why would they march, why would they want my approval? why not let anti-discrimination laws take care of work, job, housing etc.

Wht not legislate away everything because we dont agree on some things being outlawed.

Personally, I think drug laws should be taken off the books, because they dont work, they make criminals out of otherwise law abiding people, they allow for so much money that murder corruption, blackmail, kidnapping gangs burglary all are tied to the drug trade and all would be done away with without a significant social cost, drug addiction rates in legalized countries are for the most part lower than ours.

the above is my moral position-iut saves lives, how does your proposition save or help society? still cant answer the question what am I to do if I believe in my church and my church says its wrong?

That’s the silliest thing I’ve ever heard. People march not because they care what you think personally but because they want to be recognized as equal human beings under the law and in culture. Now, I’m not saying your opinion does not matter. I’m only saying that they’re not going to be offended just because you think what they do is wrong. It’s not so much a matter of them seeking approval as it is allowing them to have all the same rights and inclusion as heterosexuals have.

How does your position “save lives”? My position is simply to allow homosexuals to be recognized as equal human beings who have the same rights as people like you and me. and I do to get calls from gays every day asking, seeking, begging for my approval, telling me they cant go on without it. I get sooo tired of it, its pathetic, I almost want to change the listing in the phone book saying gay support group

Walrus you need to find something youve lost, your sense of irony.

Every law we make has some moral basis-look at the stimulus package, its full of moral choices-that’s what goverments do-they legislate morality-see my posting on drug laws.

I would ask does a law like a drug law lead to a societal good or evil? I believe it leads to great evils from murder to burglary, get rid of it.

What societal good does gay marriage achieve social justice-give me a break.

Yes there are things in life thast are higher moral authorities than ourselfs- I suspect you have not noticed but this is a catholic forum- you run into catholics here, they believe the teachings of the catholic church, on a forum with a enlightened religion maybe you find what you want- support for your position but I cant imagine you find it here where the catholic church teaches homosexual activity is a sin. Imagine that, dang.

My first priest left the church because he was gay, I loved and respected him, had dinner with him afterwards, still feel the same about him, but guess what-I dont support how he is living, and I would not support him if he wanted to have a gay marriage.

Not a matter of thinking for myself, I have, I think I’m a catholic and believe the teachings of the church- so I support those teachings. simple as that.

You dont think people randomly call me about my opinions? thats just silly last night after the call about the dishwasher I had a call about what tv show I was watching and about whether I would support the stimulus plan and someone on who I was voting for in some runoff I knew nothing about, and whether My Whites were bright and my colors well I guess colors, you just dont know…

Interesting that Jesus said nothing about homosexuality and that the sin of Sodom & Gomorha was a sin of of breaking the laws of hospitality. See what Jesus said about that.

This is not only about same-sex action, but sex and other behavoir outside of what natural law (God’s purpose) intended, the consequences can and do kill…physically, mentally and spiritually. We are not animals but rational, thinking beings that have a higher purpose then just self-seeking sexual pleasure. Society mores, norms and tabos are rooted not in ignorance and superstition but experience and true knowledge. Refusal to accept those mores, norms and tabos have deadly and grave consequences to all members of society.

ok. I’ll respond, liberals classiofy their legislation as social justice.

conservatives calssify their responses as morality.

there are some common ground in the church- the church actually goes along and is very liberal on MOST social justice issues, that is why catholics voted for obama, that and their ecomnomic self interest, they believed he would fix the economy.

But, catholics have a higher moral authority than social justice or maorality on issues that it has spoken- the church, and it has spoken on homosexuallity and abortion, therefore I cannot support these issues.

Where does social justice come from? the norms of the day, it changes over time, if we lived very long ago slavery is a norm and woman were property.

the dogma of the church remains the same, its moral teachings, that is what we are to foillow.

I new I’d get you with that catholic forum thing, tell me was it the wrong turn at barnes & noble or at the hip hopster website that got you here? I thought you’d get on board with the anti gay crowd as soon as you learned where you were, when in Rome and the like…
