If I pay to read the newspaper, I"ll pick up the Herald. It may be more sensationalist, but at least 1) it’s easier to read through on the T, and 2) being conservative is not a taboo.
I regularly read the Metro and BostonNOW, which tend to be less venemous than the Globe. The BostonNOW prints readers blogs, and mine has been printed a couple of times this past week. Hopefully, if more Catholic minded people get on board, then they’ll post more Catholic minded reports. I know I never could have gotten any of this past the editorial board of the Globe! The Globe will usually only print conservative opinions if it makes conservatives look stupid.
I remember reading a letter in the Globe after the partial-birth abortion ban was upheld about how all the letters supporting the ban were by men, and all letters opposing the ban were by women (this, of course, is a little presumptuous, since a woman can have a man’s name and vice-versa) but the point is that this writer actually must have assumed that these were the ONLY letters they received, and that it wasn’t the Globe editorial staff who sorted out the letters this way! I’m sure that the Globe received many letters supporting the ban from women, and many letters opposed to the ban from men. So why weren’t those printed? Hmm…
