WATERLOO, November 29, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) - An Ontario Catholic school board approached by a family issues group concerned about pro-homosexual materials in school libraries, is now facing the opening of homosexual student clubs in its high schools.

The Waterloo Catholic District School Board was approached early this year by the group Defend Traditional Marriage and Family concerned about a teacher resource book promoting homosexuality as well as some thirty similarly objectionable books, videos and pamphlets available to Catholic students in school libraries and guidance offices.

The board took half a year to address the issue and would only address the teacher resource book, refusing to address the other pro-gay materials at the same meeting. The Family Life Committee of the Catholic school board voted 11-5 to retain the book, but the director of Education for the board made a compromise decision. Roger Lawler decided this week to remove the teacher resource book from individual schools but retain it at a central teacher resource center

Why won’t somebody shut down this sham of a “Catholic” school system??? Either teach the Catholic faith and administer the schools in a Catholic manner, or amit that you’re NOT Catholic - please!

Shutting down the Catholic School system is not the answer, that is throwing the baby out with the bathwater. The answer is to work within the school system and make it genuinely Catholic again.

To do so, the parents must take an active part , the priests in that locale should speak about it from the pulpit, the Bishop of the diocese should get involved. The trustee of the Catholic board should be held to account.

If I lived in that area I would write letters to all and sundry about this issue, especially to the Parish Priest, and my Trustee.

The reason it continues is because corrupt and sympathetic individuals on the inside are keeping the beast alive. Somewhere in the chain of command, it could be/should be dealt with swiftly and decisively; like, “You’re fired.”

I suspect a political battle is being waged behind the scenes. The real damage done is the loss of credibility, vis á vis the young in faith who look to their “leaders” for an example. It reminds me of the pedophile priests here in Los Angeles that were simply shufled off to another parish.

Now Pride, the deadliest of sins, has become the “badge of courage” for what is doctrinally supposed to be disordered behavior. This is an unconscionable policy, and its lukewarm defenders should be spit out.
