Gay rights groups attack iPhone confession app for Roman Catholics
The launch of an iPhone app that guides Catholics through confession has prompted a furious response from gay rights groups, who accuse it of “promoting anti-gay spiritual abuse”.

“Confession: A Roman Catholic App”, which costs £1.19 from the Apple iTunes store, has shot to 26 in the download charts, behind Sims 3 and Resident Evil 4: Platinum.

The app allows “a personalised examination of conscience for each user”, and has already won the backing of senior members of the Catholic church. A spokesman for the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales said it was a “useful tool to help people prepare for the sacrament of reconciliation”. Among the questions users are asked is: “Have I been guilty of any homosexual activity?”

This is ridiculous. We are the Catholic Church and we don’t support an active homosexual lifestyle. Its like attacking blue because it is not green.
 
The objection of homosexuals to this app is silly on its face - this is simply what the Church teaches - but I’m glad this has come up, because it may cause the issue to be brought into the open: does the Church have the right to teach what she believes regarding homosexuality?

That question may sound absurd but given events in the UK and Canada it seems clear to me that this issue will eventually be specifically raised, and it is probably better that it be raised sooner rather than later.

this is irrefutable proof of how homosexual activists contradict themselves when speaking of freedom. they coercively cry “bigot” and “homophobe” when something might be against their agenda.

Not surprising at all. Anyone that disagrees with their “enlightened” point of view is WRONG.

And they say we are the intolerant ones for having a belief that is against theirs!

I will be buying this app when I get home tonight. Even if I never use it (which I’ll at least give it a try) I want to show my support for the people who made it!
 
This is so dumb. Homosexual people ask for, and nowadays, demand understanding and the Church understands their situation and has their stance on it. If they want so much understanding and acceptance, if they don’t believe in the Church they don’t have to attack it. The Church isn’t saying that having the same-sex attraction is wrong but the acts that come from it, hence the application thing asked if there was “activity” and not “are you attracted to the same-sex.”

Nobody is forcing anyone to use the iPhone program. It’s purely voluntary. If one doesn’t want to use it, then don’t. It’s that simple.

I find it hard to believe that gay rights groups were not aware the the Church teaches that homosexual activity is a sin. What difference does the iPhone make? If the Church teaches something is wrong, then something is wrong.

This is bizarre.

I hear you;’ however, since this is not the Church’s app don’t be surprised if it gets pulled off the market. The company that issued it may cave in to this.
 
The Homosexuals accuse us Catholics of basically being Catholic. If Being A Catholic were illegal would there be enough evidence to convict you?

That is true, that they accuse us of being Catholic. Because they can’t belong to the club and still be in homosexual relationships, they want to tear down the club.

Gay rights groups Iphone confession app? Well if they attack anything to do with the Church, it’s generally because it exposes their lifestyle as sinful, so again, whats exactly wrong here? :confused:
 
All homosexuals should be treated with respect, sensitivity, and love, just like every other person, but if this action makes anything clear its that these gay rights groups are not merely after tolerance and rights but they want to force everyone to accept their lifestyle without opposition. The Church has always said that homosexual acts are immoral, just as premarital sex, polygamy, and divorce and re marriage are immoral. I just think its a shame how when we disagree with an action we get termed bigots for hating the people which isn’t the case, and for some reason this only happens with homosexuality. If I said I was against fornication, no one would call me a bigot for hating fornicators, but when it comes to homosexuality we get branded bigots.
 
Well, these gay rights groups aren’t violating anyone’s legal rights, which I’m guessing is all that matters to them. They are using the tactic of trying to ‘shame’ Apple into removing the app, which is perfectly legal, if Apple decides it would have more to lose by keeping it than getting rid of it. It may be legal, but I find it quite annoying that these groups are utterly unwilling to accept the reality that we live in a society where differing views prevail, and it’s not just a matter of defending their own legal rights; they’re trying to make life as difficult as possible for people who disagree with them . Legal or not, it’s still strikes me as a bitter and reprehensible attitude.
