In my opinion, homosexuality is a symptom and a product of other social and emotional problems that one began earlier in life. This is why you can’t treat homosexuality directly, you need to treat it’s particular causes in the particular person you are treating.
It should be noted, however, that the causes for homosexuality in females can vary more than in males.
I think that the exert that Carla gave from the Catholic Medical Association was not trying to say that homosexuality is usually caused by trauma as in trauma from a traumatic event. I think that it is rather referring to emotional trauma throughout the course of growing up.Carla, your post operates on the assumption that gay people are gay because of some trauma that happened in their lives.
Personally, as someone with homosexual attractions, I think that the causes for homosexuality are usually social and emotional problems that start early on. I tend to think that the father/son relationship may be a little overrated in the development of homosexual attractions, while the boy’s relationship to his male peers may be underrated.
