Oh, really? And people are just what??? Seeing that it’s suddenly “equal” and “good” (neither of which is true, btw) because it’s and easy to support?

Why didn’t this happen before if it’s so obvious?

Catholics call marriage in the church Holy Matrimony. Civil marriage is a different thing, of course.

It’s about valid marriages. A same-sex relationship can never be valid. Also, states have no practical incentive to invest in so-called gay “marriage”.

The rolling eyes is unbecoming of adults and Catholics. It’s possible to have a discussion–especially if your point is well made–without stooping to eye rolling.

When he says they cannot be valid, he is speaking morally, in the eyes of God. *Anything *can be ‘valid’ in the eyes of the law. Owning another person. Putting people to death in concentration camps. Taking the life of an unborn child. That really isn’t the issue.

There are reasons why gay ‘marriages’ are rarely going to be strong marriages building strong communities. I’m guessing many of those reasons (for instance, the promiscuous lifestyle that is so prevalent). But in addition to that, there is no reason that two gay men must call what they have ‘marriage’ in order to build a stronger country.

Actually what is valid in the law changes with what country you would go to really.
There are other marriages in the church that also don’t work out and sometimes tend to end in disaster and pain for the family.

The Catholic Church (including myself) do not recognize the validity of those marriages. That’s what I would tell “all the places”.

Yes strong marriages do. However, a homosexual relationship will never be a marriage and furthermore, homosexual relationships do not last as long nor are they really “strong” generally speaking.

If they were so strong and powerful as you say, they would be able to stand on their own merits.

Besides, it didn’t take too long for gay divorce to follow gay “marriage” now did it?

And yet in the USA, they have a high court ruling in their favor and it still isn’t enough.

Not riddles, but people who confuse the truth to be and accept the flavor of the day.

So let me ask this real quickly and I mean no rudeness in doing so.

Why does it matter so much what other people do? This may be incorrect but it looks like it really matters to some people on this forum and others and I do not understand why.

Most people from a practical standpoint wouldn’t care. But here is what is happening:

1. Bakers and florists are being forced by government to cater “weddings” they don’t agree with.
2. There’s a push to get elementary school children to learn about sexual orientation.
3. Pride parades shut down parts of major cities

So this really should explain why it matters what other people do. It’s far beyond two consenting adults in a locked hotel room, which probably wouldn’t be moral in the spirit of this conversation, but hopefully you get the idea…

I do not understand why.

I hear this a lot lately from those who defend/promote progressive causes. Probably not a good idea to say this and then market oneself as smarter or more educated. You’re not doing that, but many of your colleagues do.
