Up until recently, in North America, the laws of society did not accept homosexual marriage and many countries still don’t. Who to say in 50 years, the laws of society won’t change to allow marriage between parent and child? A though that makes lots of people akward today. But, 50 years ago the though of homosexual marriage made people akward. God knows what is best for us which is why he gave us the unchangeable truth from the start.
What is incest in your eyes and/or in the eyes of the Catholic Church, awb? As I mentioned earlier in this thread, Southerners have long accepted (and enshrined in their laws) marriage between cousins, close cousins even. I’m interested in your thoughts on that subject.

Thank you for explaining. The thing is, I too could choose to get all upset over the fact that people are practicing homosexuality and loose sleep. Or, I could stay calm AND speak out about it without loosing my cool. As a Catholic, I have a responsibility to help my brothers and sisters get to heaven. I speak out to the point required to fulfill my moral obligation and then I let it go.
Its the way people fulfill that moral obligation though that can cause some minor problems. When in public some use signs and shout while others stay calm and talk about it.

I am also Catholic and have been since I was little however I also went to a Quaker school as a child and they taught us tolerance of many kinds from a young age.

I feel like a lot of people try and fulfill a lot of moral obligations but to not think of the people they are talking to.

I’m not saying you don’t care I know you care about us. I am saying there are some out there that may not and think about themselves more.

Homosexuality causes serious bowled (sp?) health issues and problems as well
There is certainly a fairly old study that gives stats that would support your opinion if you are talking about men who have anal sex with men (MSM). However, MSM is not homosexuality, but rather, specific homosexual acts, so this statement doesn’t make a lot of sense.

And what about lesbians? Their homosexuality doesn’t cause bowel problems for them.

For some reason, it’s the male homosexuals that really get people fired up.

I agree that it seems more people do focus on the male same sex relationships then those of females. I have noticed this in the media more I think over time.

If 2 people share the same great grand parent, it is incestuous for them to marry. Just because southeners have accept it does NOT make it OK

True not all homosexual acts cause bad physical affects. But they ALWAYS cause bad mental affects

Is this your opinion or is this the teaching of the Catholic Church regarding incest?

And to be honest, it is what was told to me by my mom as a child so I wouldn’t know. You asked for my view and I answered your question

I would feel better seeing results on this in a report if its possible.
There are no reports that support awn’s opinion that homosexual acts “ALWAYS cause bad mental effects.”

Ask just about any gay person - the physical acts they engage in are just as fun, uplifting and natural to them as the acts straight couple engage in are to them…or not, of course - just like heterosexuals can have less-than-pleasant sexual experiences, so can homosexuals. None of these things have do do with the acts, per se.

I agree they get the same out of it that any straight person does. I asked for evidence because its just something I do when a claim is made to be safe. Thank you for telling me what you have here.

Love the persons - in truth and love and with gentleness.

One is not to approve a homosexual wedding - so avoid anything that does that. But love the persons involved as human persons.

Certainly do not go to the wedding - for to do so is to in effect approve of that which is objectively gravely wrong.

Perhaps seek the advice of your Confessor or Pastor as to how to best handle things in terms of others going and your saying something or not saying something.

Fraternal correction is an act of love - and can be a duty - or not be one (no well founded hope of change …make matters worse etc…). In all though -truth with charity.

Engaging in homosexual acts IS a sin and same sex marriage is a sin
I understand that’s what this faith says indeed. However then again I have seen someone say along the lines of “If a person is not able to have children should they marry?”

There are a few things that bother me about this religion and the fact that you get so many different answers makes it hard to know what is the truth. You say this and I go to another Catholic and they say something else.

To an outsider this must be rather confusing.

I am not trying to be harsh here at all just speaking my mind.

A man and a woman can get married if they are not able to have children so long as they can consummate their wedding. This is a common argument for why SSM should be accepted by the RCC.
