do you find it funny that the media hasn’t used any pictures of zimmerman when he was just a boy? why not show george and trayvon in their onesies while we’re at it.
Is Zimmerman alive? Is he an adult? If the answers are yes, and yes, I highly doubt he’d qualify for the usual treatment I see given daily, to the photos of kids who have been killed.

Why is reporting race even necessary. If we want to get rid of racism, maybe we should stop talking, writing, thinking, and reporting on it so much.
First we have to get the lingo right. Mere mention of, or attention to race, is not = racism. Next, we have to accept that issues don’t go away simply because we ignore them. Third, we need, on both sides, to drop the defensiveness and the making of excuses for ‘the way things are’. These three would be a great START of a legacy worth passing on to our kids.

If more so, I would love to hear how you substantiate your opinion with something other than “I think” or conjecture.

Opinions based on fact tend to carry more weight….
Totally - although you did not repeat the problem you question -
**if Zimmerman had no gun on him, self-preservation would have
kept him far away from that SUSPICIOUS stranger. **

Simple common sense tells the story.
Why track down a suspicious stranger
without means of deadly force to protect
you? Who would do that?
  1. maybe the mentally ill
  2. maybe someone with a death wish
  3. maybe someone who imagines himself a hero.
I’ve had tons of experience with all three groups.

The three groups (and there are many more) share: a shortage of common sense.

I think that would be the second amendment if I am not mistaken…

Let us not forget the fact that the years following Florida enacting their “shall issue” laws for handguns the homicide rate dropped 58%…

But not the time nor place for the gun control debate.

Yet Zimmerman had past criminal charges.

Right - NOT the time for gun control issues.

Actually unless Trayvon has a documented history of violence a past of drug use, or tagging school walls isn’t relevent. Zimmerman’s case hinges on Martin attacking him, if Martin has no history of attacking people that’s very relevent. Zimmerman’s history of violence towards others is RELEVANT.** In fact a history of violence is totally admissable if the defendant is claiming self defense.** He after all shot the boy and is arguing that we believe his word that he was attacked. When instead he’s the one with a very documented history of being aggressive towards others.

A history of using violence as a security officer, being considered way heavy handed in his neighborhood watch duties, that’s all extremely relevant. It may be very well that the standing your ground defense especially if this guy brandished a gun, is all in Trayvon’s defense.

And lets point out Zimmermans legal connections are relevant here too. The fact that you have a witness saying the police tried to correct her to say Zimmerman was calling for help not the boy…

Once again if at in anyway Zimmerman physically confronted this kid (and he’s got a history of doing this) and or brandished his gun . Than his Stand Your Ground defense goes completely out the window.
Yes
and Yes.

Racism will exist as long as we keep it in the spotlight and focus on it in conversations. Do we really think God cares what color you are?

yes it is, if that person has acquired the gun legally and gone through a course for a permit.

surely you are not saying that most people that carry guns legally are looking for trouble?
On the contrary.
See Post # 422.

Plenty of unstable folks can get licenses to cary loaded weapons.
It’s likely that the screening processes in various States are less than stringent.

Racism, like much that is negative in human interactions, comes from the heart - not the mouth. Ignoring race will not make racial hatred/mistrust go away. God may not care what color I am, but guess what, many humans DO - some very much, some little, if at all.

I think people who focus conversations around race and racial identity are small minded and typically not worth my mental energy. But that’s just me.

👍

They may have to put white male on the police reports because Hispanics are considered white for the purposes of FBI statistics.
Odd. Seems to me it would be better to use accurate descriptions, but that it just my opinion.

Ah, that would explain it, then. I haven’t watched any televison about this case, I’ve gotten all my info elsewhere. I had never seen that picture before today. Seems to me it would be more accurate to use it rather than old pictures.
I’ve seen many recent photos in the media, all online.
yet that one is new to me too. Others, recent, MANY.

“There is another class of coloured people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs – partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs.”

Booker T. Washington would probably agree with you.

Question for seekerz: Would you be vehemently defending for Trayvon if he happened to be white? Please think before you answer.
