Thanks for posting this, sad…:o
It seems like Catholic Colleges are going out of their way to put pro-abortion Catholics on a pedestal. Like how Notre Dame University honored the most pro-abortion President in American history, while vigorously persecuting Pro-Lifers praying the Rosary on campus for two years. Like Mount Saint Vincent’s Catholic University allowing a liberal professor to teach a sexology course referring to a naked pornographic picture of the Virgin Mary, entitled “The Liberation of Mary”.

Society goes out of its way to praise dissident pro-abortion Catholics such as Joe Biden, Ted Kennedy, John Kerry and Nancy Pelosi. I think they do this to break up the Catholic vote. There are 67 million Catholics in the USA, but 51 million votes needed to elect a US President. If all Catholics voted Pro-Life, there wouldn’t be a single pro-death politician. Pro-death advocates need to keep us divided.

All I can muster is…this is disgusting.
When will this sort of embarrassment stop?
I have always said, “If it’s not one thing, it’s another.” The human condition does not go away. We just replace one problem with another. We deal with it as best we can and we move along.

You may want to take lessons from people like St. Francis, St. Teresa of Avila and Bl. Mother Teresa. They never lost sleep over any of these things. They observed, answered questions, tried to lead by example and slept very soundly. Why? Because they focused on what was directly in front of them. Thomas a Kempis wrote in the Imitation of Christ, not to make someone else’s moral problems your own, because yours far surpass those of the person whom you’re observing.

I believe this was the rule that guided Francis of Assisi, Teresa of Avila and Teresa of Calcutta. That’s why they radiated such peace. It was that sense of peace and disciplined focus on the task at hand that made them the most followed leaders in Catholic history. More people follow Francis and the two Teresa’s than any other saint. They are masters of inner silence, peace, holy indifference and detachment from everything around them. They had their plate full with their own obligations.

In my humble opinion, it is time to bring back the “Anathema”. It is time for our Bishops to roll up their sleeves and start issuing PUBLIC Excommunications to these individuals and institutions. Just today V.P. Joseph Biden was on a morning news program condoning homosexual relations and marriage. Yet he will Publicly profess his Catholic upbringing at every opportunity. These people and institutions are creating Public Scandal, and should be Excommunicated Publicly. Out Loud! For all to see! Then we can Pray for their Public recanting of these false ideologies and welcome them back to the Body of Christ!

You can’t excommunicate someone unless they commit an excommunicable offense. None of these things are strong enough causes for excommunication. Any bishop who attempts to do so will find the pope unwilling to uphold the excommunication. To excommunicate you have to violate one of the seven laws in Canon Law that carry an excommunication or you have to offend the bishop or the pope directly. These are not offenses against the bishop or the pope. They are certainly inappropriate positions that Catholics should never take, but not enough to put them outside of the institutional Church. We have to be careful not to use excommunication as a punishment. It was never meant to be a punishment. It was always meant to be a medicine for the benefit of the person. According the Catholic theology they have not ceased to be members of the Mystical Body. They are not apostates.

The Church rarely subscribes to public excommunication, because of the glee that it triggers in some people. That does just as much harm to the soul as the actions of these individuals.

Brother, does espousing and promoting a teaching or teachings in direct contradiction to the Dogmas and teachings of the Magesterium not rise to the level of Excommunication? i.e. promoting abortion, promoting homosexual activity as normal, promoting homosexual marriage as a right, promoting contraception as morally right and funding such through public monies? Can one remain a Catholic in good standing and espouse these ideals? What of Latae sententiae?

No, not at all. The laws that govern excommunication are for very specific violations. Heresy is a tricky one. Subscribing to certain heretical ideas is not enough. I’m not sure where the Church actually draws the line, because the canon is not clear.

One certainly remains a Catholic, but I would not say in good standing. I would describe the relationship with the Church as irregular.

There are only seven infractions that carry a penalty of excommunication. That does not mean that the Holy Father cannot excommunicate for other things that are not in the canons. It’s been done in the past. The bishops cannot create reasons for excommunicating. Only the pope can do that.

I hope this helps.

Secretary Sebelius needs to make her next statement to the Church privately, in the confessional.

Perhaps to sort of return the favor, Ms. Sebelius might invite Cardinal Dolan to speak to the HHS employees.

Kathleen Sebelius has been asked not to approach for Communion by Bishops.
Good for the bishops!!!

Kathleen Sebelius has been asked by Georgetown to speak.
Shame on Gerogetown!!!

Thanks Br. JR. That does make sense. I cannot look into the soul of another, thankfully, so i have to go on what they publicly espouse. Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden, Kathleen Sebilius, Gov. Scott Walker and many many others have professed their Catholic Faith while promoting anti-Catholic programs and laws. “By there fruits you shall know them”.

I will continue to pray for their conversion.

Georgetown Edits Sebelius Commencement Announcement After Complaints
In response to that campaign, according to CNS’s blog, Georgetown has edited the announcement mentioning Sebelius’ participation.
Rather than rescind its invitation to Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius to speak at the graduation ceremony for its Public Policy Institute (GPPI) on May 18, Georgetown University has quietly edited its website announcement of the event and is now attempting to deny that she is a “commencement speaker.”
Code:
“Secretary Sebelius is not speaking at Georgetown’s commencement. She is speaking at Georgetown Public Policy Institute’s annual student and faculty awards event,” Georgetown spokesman Rachel Pugh said in an email to The Cardinal Newman Society.
Code:
“Georgetown has 28 ceremonies to honor the achievements of our graduates and our faculty. We have 10 official commencement ceremonies to award degrees for the different schools within the university, and 18 other awards ceremonies to honor student and faculty achievements. We do not have one main commencement speaker. The GPPI ceremony is one event during commencement weekend, but it is not a commencement ceremony (degrees are not conferred),” the email continued.
But CNS notes the announcement is still headlined “Commencement 2012 to Feature Wide Range of Speakers,” and Georgetown President John DeGioia is quoted celebrating “our commencement speakers.”

I scanned the various articles and couldn’t find out when she was invited and by whom. Did anyone see that?

Her militant pro abortion stand is nothing new. She was a strong advocate for Tiller the Killer and is involved in a PP scandal where the evidence mysteriously disappeared.

I really wish she would either repent or renounce her Catholic faith. She’s a disgrace

What did Gov. Scott Walker do? Is he a Catholic?

This is why Canon Law is very careful to leave the matter of excommunications in the hands of the law and the pope. Just imagine this. We have several thousand bishops in the Church around the world. Try to imagine several thousand bishops independently deciding who should and should not be excommunicated. They’re never going to agree. That’s why it’s better to leave it to a central authority, in this case, Canon Law and the pope.
What did Gov. Scott Walker do? Is he a Catholic?
I don’t know him. Who is he?

Why not invite Michael Voris or Father Mitch Pacwa instead?
