How dare she? If she hadn’t posted it, it wouldn’t have happened! Kind of like if we don’t test, there is no virus! Go figure!
 
Nice to know the district has the courage to enforce use of electronic devices in school, yet lacks the courage to set and enforce policy to address basic health guidelines such as masking and social distancing.

This feels like violation of the First Amendment. But they say they wrote her up for using her phone in school hours.
 
I hope the family gets a good lawyer and sue the heck out of the school system.
Watters said she was suspended over the photo and that the school said she violated three conduct policies:
using her phone during instruction time,
using her phone during school hours for social media
and filming students and posting on a social media platform.

But students in grades 9 through 12 are exempt from the phone ban, Watters said,
and she didn’t post the photo until school was over. Watters admitted she broke the policy on posting images of students to social media, but she doesn’t regret it.

So she is actually guilty of only one.
 
The photo is still out there and shows the world that this school district does not care for the health of the students.
 
In a letter to the community, Superintendent Brian Otott said the photo was taken out of context, writing: “Class changes at the high school level are a challenge when maintaining a specific schedule. It is an area we are continuing to work on in this new environment to find practicable ways to further limit students from congregating. Students are in this hallway environment for just a brief period as they move to their next class. … There is no question that the photo does not look good. … Wearing a mask is a personal choice, and there is no practical way to enforce a mandate to wear them.”

The only thing I find shady about this pic is that some students are wearing “LONG SLEEVED HOODIES” in the hottest month of Summer. 😬
 
Speaking of long sleeved hoodies, probably due to aggressive air conditioning in the classrooms?
 
One state over our Republican Governor issued “Mask Order” at the start of July.
 
Maybe so if this is an all white school.

While it does make this suspicious, in my years of teaching there were often students who wore hoodies in August.
They’re kids. Go figure.

Superintendent Brian Otott who claimed this, must also be a believer in the “5 second rule”…where even if you drop food on the floor, as long as you pick it up within 5 seconds, there is no way for it to have picked up bacteria…maybe the “brief period of time” was 5 seconds or less?
 

Georgia school seen in photo of a crowded hallway will briefly move to online learning after reporting 9 cases of Covid-19​

“As a result of our being informed of nine cases of Covid-19 at North Paulding High School following the first week of in-person instruction, along with the possibility that number could increase if there are currently pending tests that prove positive, we have consulted with the Department of Public Health and are temporarily switching the instructional method to Digital Learning at NPHS,” the letter from Paulding County Schools Superintendent Brian Otott said.

The high school will only offer digital learning Monday and Tuesday. Tuesday evening families will be informed of whether remote instruction will continue or if students can return to school, the letter said.

Meanwhile, “the school will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected,” Otott wrote. The school district will also work with the Georgia Department of Public Health to identify anyone else who had close contact with the confirmed patients and have yet to be identified.

That would be the Governor of Georgia, and he does not care about anyone’s health. He is the one who wrote an executive order forbidding any place in the state from mandating masks.
