But some Georgians, such as atheist Ed Buckner, are not impressed. He and about 20 other members of the Atlanta Freethought Society protested the vigil.
A drought has strangled Southeast water resources for months. The situation has gotten so dire that Georgia Gov. Sonny Purdue plans to hold a public prayer vigil for rain.
Should the governor have a public prayer vigil for rain?
*Yes. The situation is so desperate it may help and it can’t hurt.
*No. This is a violation of church and state. He can pray ALONE
in his home.
It’s sad when people just spout opinions, especially when those opinions demonstrate utter ignorance.
There is no 1st Amendment issue with anyone, anywhere, praying for anything. The Governor of Georgia, as well as everyone else there, is free to pray whenever, wherever and for whatever purpose that they choose.
People that believe otherwise not only need to get a life, they need to get an education.
IMHO, the atheist just wanted to grab on to something that gave him an audience. HE’s the one that is grandstanding. Isn’t that curious?
