This is a far cry from the Nazi era, when almost everyone went to church whether they were Catholic or Protestant. The Soviets must have introduced secularism in Germany with their occupation and later creation of the German Democratic Republic. I don’t know what happened in West Germany though. I assume the blame can be put on the Social Democratic Party.

I did not. I am strongly anti-fascist. I am just pointing out how Germany used to be more religious before the Soviets occupied them.
Well no doubt it helped speed up the end to religion in old East Germany. The statistics I linked to earlier on page 1 back that. Former East Germany has very few people who still believe in God when compared with old West Germany. I think it was only 8% still believe God works in the world in the old east.
