I know he broke the law but when civil authorities refuse to administer justice something is bound to snap.

Perhaps the police were administering justice by telling the father there was nothing legally they could do. Perhaps in Germany it is legal for a 17 year old to carry on with people older than them. In the U.S. we’d generally say that 18 is the age. So in this story the only people that clearly did anything wrong was the father and his two buddies from the factory. When people decide to take the law, or what they think the law is, into their own hands the end is never justice.

I clicked the link - saw the picture - read the headline - cringed  - couldn’t go on - couldn’t bear to read it… too painful!

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ages_of_consent_in_Europe#Germany
The age of consent in Germany is 14, !!!] as long as a person over the age of 21 does not exploit a 14–15 year-old person’s lack of capacity for sexual self-determination ???]. In this rare and special case, a conviction on an individual over the age of 21 requires a complaint from the younger individual; being over 21 and engaging in sexual relations with a minor of that age does not constitute an offense in and of itself. Otherwise the age of consent is 14, although provisions protecting minors against coercion apply until the age of 18.

My point is that it’s legal but not right for an older person to prey on young people. When there is no legal means in place to discourage such travesties we shouldn’t be surprised when things like this happen.

One can understand how he felt, seeing that his daughter was involved with a man several years older than him. The punishment, however, did not fit the ‘crime’; he went completely overboard!

This is vigilante justice and as such has no place within a civilized society and the actions of this father shouldn’t be written off as an “Oh well, if the law won’t do anything about it then it’s okay for him to.”

**Maybe they weren’t having sex, but just having coffee together? **
🙂

Well, the police could have acted if the daughter had complained but apparently she didn’t want to.

Folks, I’m not surprised by what he did. He’s just some random German guy.

I understand what he felt. He was feeling justified. Though, it would seem that he was not:
He told police: "I received a phone call anonymously that my daughter was involved with a guy 40 years older than her. You said you couldn’t stop him - so I did.
From the article, he acted on an anonymous phone call. That was his standard of proof.

I just can’t find any way to defend what this guy did.

He should be asking himself if he raised his daughter right instead of castrating another man. We need to stop treating sexually mature women as children.

The original title to the article is:

**German man castrates teenage daughter’s 57-year-old boyfriend **

I do not know all the details of the family’s life and the article doesn’t really allude to them.

Those of us who are parents of teenagers understand from experience how difficult it can be to raise them, particularly if we choose to raise them in a more-or-less traditional manner. I do not know for a fact how available homeschooling is for parents in Germany (when I lived there, parenthood was the last thing on my mind). But if the child has been raised in public schools, the challenge to maintain a certain set of values becomes exponentially more difficult.

The point is, while I am not endorsing castration as a technique to ward off suitors, even those with a 40 year age advantage, it is far too simplistic to say “if he would have raised his daughter right…”

I know from experience too many parents who have done all “the right things” they are told to do and whose kids have turned out to be monsters.

So based on an anonymous phone call this… Person castrated a man dating another adult. I am more scared that some on this forum seem okay with this.
