I have only found this story at the following link but, if it proves to be true,
it belies the claim that there is no harm to society or infringement on an
individual’s moral rights when the government legalizes immoral behavior.

There is a growing disturbing trend as more and more legislatures continue to
draft laws which they know violate religious beliefs. These legislatures are
getting more and more reluctant to include any exemptions based on religious
belief in the law.

That’s outrageous. And we wonder why Germany and France can’t see the morally correct thing to do? It is because they are steeped in depravity.

That is so incredible, that it is hard to believe. If it is true, then it is just further evidence of what happens when entire cultures ignore God. Women in the United States might want to take a serious look at this case.

Its so nice to know that Germany and France who are so much more sophisticated than were American cretins have those kind of laws. And the liberal elites want us to be more like “old europe.” Riiiiiiiiigghhhhht. :banghead:

If Germany really does that…are they any longer our friends on any level?

I totaly agree,

The ‘anything goes’ mentality over there is sick. Now children can grow up in society that allows for all things degrading to human dignity. Maybe we arrogant puritanical Americans have the right idea after all.

What will it be like in 10-15 years over there? Maybe they will compromise and only allow porn on public TV after 9:00 p.m.

They already have porn on TV and so do we.

Great. Let’s take advantage of the poor and vulnerable by suggesting they sell their bodies. Now the government wants to sponsor hedonism. Not sure how God has the patience for all this but I don’t think we have much longer at this rate.

The moral corruption of Germany in the 1930’s was blamed on the Jews by the Nazi’s and helped them rise to power. It is obvious that it was and is a lack of religious belief that is the root of moral decay. All of Western Europe needs to return to it’s Judaic/Christian roots.

Yeah, when it comes to moral deacy it is always easier to blame someone else. However, look into the Old Testament and they have all the same sins over 3,000 years ago that still plague us now. It is original sin that predisposes us to that sinful nature. We each have our own battle with sin. It will be the same thousands of years from now. Abortion, theft, murder, false gods, envy, gluttony, all of it the same.

To my knowledge this was not reported in the NY Times or Chicago Tribune…Does anyone know if this is reputable?

The Yahoo! article is from Reuters. The NY Times and Chicago Tribune probably got the same article from Reuters. You can do a Google News search and find a ton of articles on this, if you need to see it from an additional news source.

I don’t doubt that this could happen. Pretty sad and scary.

The only thing sad and scary is that everybody here obviously is willing to believe each and every bullsh*t they are told.

The first article is full of nonsense and obviously wrong. For example prostitution has never been illegal in Germany, so the claim it was “legalised two years ago” is wrong and nonsense.

What in fact happened two years ago was that owners of brothels have been made to pay health insurance and social security for their employees.

The whole story is pure fabrication, and you just have to read the second article to see it is!

In the second article of a way more trustworthy source a “celebrated prostitute” is quoted who calls on job agents to offer jobs in the sex industry.

She calls on them to do so because of course they don’t!

And if you now get upset about her saying that let me tell you that i have heard people on Jerry Springer shows and the like calling for far more weird things, so no need for Americans to get upset about anybody or anything in “Old Europe”!

First clean at your own doors!

It’s from the Telegraph for crying out loud!
That’s one of those tabloids that’s barely above one of those papers you see in the checkout lines in US grocery stores

I think they specialize in MP sex scandals, the Royals, and “page 3” girls rather than…what’s that word… oh yes…journalism

In fact it may not even be from the Telegraph it was just a quote pasted on a forum somewhere. Who knows who wrote it?

The thought that some people are ready to believe it and condemn the morals of a continent without even double checking it is downright…unchristian

Steve,

I for one was taking an “if” position on this topic. We do not have clarification either way…it may be true, it might be a lie.

“If” it is true…then…

I also did not claim that the article was true although I don’t doubt that we are heading in that direction even if it isn’t. I am not familiar with the Telegraph but I also do not consider the NY Times of the Chicago Tribune to be paragon examples of trustworthy reporting; especially if it would involve exposing the lies behind the political positions they espouse. However, having said that, I don’t consider them to be in the same category as, say, the National Enquirer.

Note to Werner: If the source was unreliable, you can point it out without resorting to profanity. Simply replacing vowels with asterisks does not remove the profane nature from the expression. This is a violation of forum rules.

You’re thinking of the Sun and the Star (or if you have a really dirty mind, the Sport). The Telegraph is a regular newspaper. It is, however, extremely right-wing, well to the right of the Express.

I agree. I don’t think we are appalled because it is Germany. We are appalled because it is happening - there, here or anywhere.

Actually, abortion is worse and not restricting child pornography or accessibility of pornography to minors is probably just as bad - so I don’t think it’s much of a stretch to believe this could be happening.
