Germans abandon Catholic Church

:byzsoc: While there maybe some Catholics who leave the Church over this, i don’t think
everyone in Bavaria is going to abandon the church.Got relatives there in Germany ,especially in Bavaria and The Black Forest.I doubt that they are suddenly turning Lutheran,because of this.People there are angry, and rightly so. They are even more angry because His Holiness was Archbishop of Munich,when some of this was going on, and his brother who is a bishop, was director of the choir who had members abused. That’s why they are angry.How could the pope and his brother not have any idea of the abuse,and why didn’t Benedict get ahold of the abusers in his archdiocese and defrock them and turn them over to the police.Do something for heaven sake, but not have allowed the abuser to keep working with children and young people.
If catholics in Germany leave the Church, it will be because of this.

German has always been against the CC. nothing new here. i say: Lord to whom shall we go, you have the Words of eternal life. we must all remain in the Bark of Peter. nothing else out there. the Truth can only be found in the CC.

Catholics are going thru a test of Faith. St Paul said: only those who endure until the end will be saved. something to meditate on.

it turns out that Germany levies a tax of 8-9% to paid to the church of your choice, which has made the Catholic church in Germany immensely wealthy. This ruling was challenged in court and struck down, and many Catholics have opted out.

Mass attendance plummeted last year after the German SSPX priest denied the Holocaust.
I can’t find statistics yet on what’s happening now re the hundreds of surfacing abuse cases in Germany, but I predict that attendance will plummet further.

Really? this pope has condemned the radical agendas of these radical; bishops cardinals and ordinary priests who did not teach the truth of VII but they’re own skewed and twisted versions of it which hollowed out our Church.Benedict brought back TLM which was suopposed to remain the norm with the novus ordo being the exception.Just try finding the TLM mass anywhere as disobedient Bishops are ignoring the Pope’s directives with absolute impunity.The real VII is infallible but those with their own unholy agendas taught a perversion of it.Just like in the secular world there is a cultural war going on in the Church itself…
 
All of this consternation begs one question: Do you believe that Jesus is the Christ…the Messiah? If you do then you believe that He has sent his men to fetch that colt, yet sat upon, that He might properly enter Jerusalem. Jesus Christ asks us all to accept Him as our Redeemer. Palm Sunday asks us all… “Are we prepared to accept a God who is destined to suffer?” Europe bought a fallacy, and has forsaken its heritage. So sad to be the face of mockery which has been made to play the fool. When death occurs without hope, one can only pray for the mercy of God. The Germans, sadly, can only serve to inform the collective humanity of man as to the crimes which godlessness can inspire. Instead of the Germans abandoning the Catholic Church, let us ask them…If not God …then…whom!!!
 
An opinion is not a judgement Gus…we are entitled to our own opinions…if God had not wanted us to have them he would not have allowed our brains to develop…Your attitude does not change the facts of fewer priests, declining attendance, huge anger within the laity and among Catholic intellectuals in Europe and a growing sense of despair as more and more of these revelations appear in our media…these cannot be put aside, lightly dismissed because Christ is quite clear on the matter…better a millstone be hung around their neck and they cast into a river…no room for opinion or doubt there…nothing to hide behind…plain speaking…
As Ghandi once shrewdly observed the only people who seem not to understand what Jesus was saying appear to be Christians.
 
Each and every time I enter a church I experience a sense of awe. I feel the presence of the Lord all around me. When I experience the sacraments in church I am always bowed and humbled by the power and glory which infolds me. Outside, the loud, profane world is in constant motion; one can find no peace within its headlong, whirlwind drive to be first to the ditch. Within the walls of the sanctuary, our Church, however, one stands still and is embraced by the sacrificial love of a God who became man and endured all of this world’s pain…for all of us. If one cannot “feel” the power of the Faith, deep within the soul, then perhaps we must deduce that it is we, rather than She, who is lacking.

If the German intellectuals are the arbiters of the fate of Roman Catholicism within that country, and, in fact, greater Europe, then perhaps the true Faith might need to be wholly reintroduced to the entire continent. Frankly, modern intellectuals pale when compared to the likes of say…Blaise Pascal. His “Pensees” tries to apply logic and reason to faith, but still, as great a mind as was his, the work remains incomplete.

Without “awe” there can be no deductive rationale for God, Faith,or the Roman Catholic Church. The open heart alone is the vessal into which God pours out all wisdom, but it is a wisdom which can only be “felt”, interior and deep, much too vast to be expressed merely by language. If Germany abandons the Roman Catholic Church it will be a movement away of the mind…not the heart.

There we go again, trashing bishops, cardinals and ordinary priests again!

No wonder, no one wants to enter the seminary!

Well, where I live, there is a huge shortage of priests, but we DO have one Roman Rite mass/Sunday in the largest city in the state. The archdiocese includes the entire state.

I quoted two sources in another post.

Note: church attendance in Germany is at an all-time low, along with the rest of Europe. Bavaria should be higher. How the current scandals will influence this is anyone’s guess, but we’ll hear about it.
