Is anyone having trouble with the chore wars site? I haven’t been able to “claim” anything last night or this morning.
Yes, happens avery once in a while. Try again later, it should be fine. Maybe we’re the ones clogging it with all the activity… 😃

I wonder if we could add a miscellaneous category for things that come up just once in a while. Then we could put what we did in the comment section and assign an appropriate number of points. I’m thinking of stuff like repairing a broken appliance or cleaning out a closet?

Also, do we want to include errands like going to the bank or dry cleaners, etc.?
Yes - I’ll add two categories for misc. errands, and small repair projects. I’ll give both of them 45XPs. That sounds like a good enough average - I know I can’t get anywhere near me to run an errand in less than 45 minutes.

Cool! We have quite a list of stuff going! Fun!!!

Wow!!! paradoxy and teakfrog are kicking some CA Scrubbers butt!! 😃

I feel like such a slacker! :o

Please let’s not make praying something we’ll “get credit for”. It sounds too much like the verse in which Christ says the Pharisees will be judged for praying in public. I really wouldn’t feel comfortable claiming it.
Well, since you put it that way 😃 I do think that as far as getting “experience points” in real life, praying is essential though! And I also believe that we should make time for prayer even if we get no housework done. However, it has been my experience that on the days that I pray more, I also get more housework done 👍

So how many points do you get for spending half a day trying to figure out a phone scam? 😊

Edited to add: Another good reason not to add prayers in the adventure list is that the XP for it would pretty much have to be infinite, and that would make the other chores all but obsolete as far as progressing in the game goes 🙂

Oh, I just checked the website and saw that prayer time was included. Now I feel silly for suggesting it. That’s more in line with working on our relationships (our relationship with God). Not so much a chore though.

And I decided to claim “Working with your brain” for my scam fiasco yesterday. 👍

One thing that I haven’t gotten around to doing in a while is working on my baby’s memory book. Maybe a new adventure could be organizing/working on family photos, memory books, records, etc. I don’t know… what do you guys think?

Good idea. That will actually inspire me to do them!!!

I’ve just made the beds between changing diapers. Perhaps “Making the bed” would be a good one too? Plus/minus 10 XP or so would be appropriate, I think.

How do you get more hit points? Some of those monsters are beating me up!

I don’t know - I have not had a chance to log that much lately, we’ve hardly been home this past week! I should be able to rack up some points this weekend though! 😃

If you haven’t been home, you can log some “errands” :)! I’m racking 'em up with the breastfeeding! And also since we cloth diaper, I have plenty of laundry to log, too.

But as I said earlier, this little website couldn’t have come at a better time since I just got myself re-organized with the housework 👍 Speaking of which, I don’t remember sitting in front of the computer being one of the things on my to-do list! 😊

Good call!

My computer was down for almost two whole days and now it seems to be OK. The first thing I did after I managed to connect was claim all those belated adventures - I actually have been writing them down on a piece of paper! I’ve already started getting back into slack mode this afternoon b/c I wasn’t getting any points, so any effort just seemed futile! And dh is getting so used to the “new” look of the house :o

We have out of town company coming next week so this is such a great motivator (not that company isn’t a great motivator but this makes cleaning a little more fun 😃 ).

Thanks again, lizaanne. 🙂

Ha ha! I know what you mean! This has actually been motivating me to do some laundry I’ve been putting off (not the regular stuff, but extras such as floor mats, pillows, and stuffed animals). I seriously need to clean some windows! Sounds like an interesting adventure to embark upon… 😃

For a few months after Rosemary was born the house was in quite a state. I would do nothing else but, say, make the beds, and DH would not stop raving about how wonderful the house looked :o. Then things started getting slowly better–I could make the beds and clean the dishes out of the sink–to rave reviews from DH. And now finally it’s basically back in “working order” and I’m back on track. Now I see some laundry that needs folding and a few toys scattered about, and I think the house is in a horrible state, but luckily DH still gives rave reviews. That’s the trick–let your house get bad for a few weeks/months and then the slightest bit of work you do looks like you gave the house a thorough spring cleaning 😃

By the way, cleaning the toilet was also my DH’s responsibility when we got married–called it “The Husbandly Duty” But then I discovered that it’s really not that scary or gross to do, and I’m happy to clean the bathrooms now. 🙂

You can come over to my house. I don’t think I’m every happy to clean our bathrooms. 😃

How about a couple of years of not really doing much except “cooking” (frozen veggies + fish fingers, a can of tuna or fried chicken) and then this? Dh taught me to turn the washing machine on a few days ago - I’d never done laundry in my life before! My excuse is I’m the breadwinner of the family, and dh is the loafer/musician/dropout student. Now he does “military” service (in a hospital) and I’m home all day with the baby, so our roles are reversing, although technically the money still comes mostly from my MA scholarship.

My dh “did” this, but only today I found out what he’d meant by that these two years - ewww!!! He just used to pour a bit of water over the prominent parts of the bathroom, so mine was scary and gross indeed!

For those of us who are nursing, are you counting each instance? Or just once a day? Yesterday and today I just fired one thing, even though I fed her every 2-3 hours. Just checking for consistancy’s sake. Thanks.

I don’t count every single time, but I try to count all the “main” ones. If I nurse her for about 10 minutes and then she comes off for 10 minutes and goes back on for another 10 minutes, I’ll count that as one time, not two. She’s 6.5 months and exclusively breastfed, although I’m going to start her on some solids tonight. 🙂

I claim every single feeding, but only take the number of points equal to the number of minutes I nurse. For instance, in Sam’s given example I’d claim two feedings 10 points each, which would then roughly come to the same thing.

You can claim all those feedings belatedly now! 🙂
