They are manipulating the system to their advantage. The will not vote to initiate the impeachment investigation. They say we don’t have to, house can set it’s own rules and they roll out the constitution. They don’t need a single republican to pass it and won’t do it so the can completely control the flow of information and who gets subpoenaed, etc. they are hiding something, lying, or something. They have been trying to get rid of him before he even took office and could commit a crime as president. No way I trust that. They do not have my best interest in mind or the best interest of people just like me all over the country…and you want me to trust them? Never.

Think about this. Trump was made possible by the do nothing, currupt, promise breaking democrats AND republicans that so many people are tired of. We don’t care if Biden is a Democrat or a Republican his no good, spoiled, drug using, unqualified kid shouldn’t get a 50,000 a month job for a foreign energy company because daddy is VP, legal or not. That stuff gies on and has for years and they never fix anything. Immigration for goodness sakes has been an issue for 20-30 years. Trump is actually doing something at least.

You can plead all day for the institutions you worry so much Trump is going to destroy. I think he may actually be cleaning them up.

You and I want the same thing ironically.
 
Besides that, the house already voted 3 times to initiate impeachment and all have failed, including 1 with democratic control. Technically the house voted down impeachment inquiry as of now going back to the last vote.

If the want our best interest do it fairly and transparently as possible. They won’t. They lie.
 
Believe it or not I understand your position because I feel the same the opposite way.

I truly believe you and I and many others want much of the same thing. We just disagree on the cause or how it got this way, etc.

I get over the top and accusatory sometimes and I apologize for those times. But believe me, even though you haven’t changed my mind I find a lot of value in these discussions. I know a lot of people don’t with just back and forth bickering, but I do. I have a better understanding of where you and others with your view are coming from. Thanks
 
You have yet to explain how Trump has ruined our democracy.Outside of the worn out hyperbole by the left , you clearly have no basis for this mindset.Adfitionally,can you explain how anything the Dems have to offer would be a better option for anyone withi n this country outside of their increased power and control over the citizenry? It’s diabolic the ideology of the left.
 
I think conservative voices explained Trump’s attack on democratic institutions perfectly well, I gave a clear example in this post. Was the language too complex for you to recognize what it said? I can summarize it for you if you need help.

As the old saying goes “They’ll know we are christian by our derision,” as it seems to be your main response to concrete explanations of how his wrongdoing imperils our democratic institutions.
You simply denied my posts exist (which they clearly do) and when called out on it, simply insulted them. Why should anyone entertain this childish method of discussion?

Lets take a quick quiz:
Trump’s sons Donald Trump Jr and Eric Trump:
A) Are employed in fields completely unrelated to Trump’s administration
B) Serve on the board of Trump’s company which Trump funnels federal business to, hold advisory roles in the white house, and are under active investigation for financial impropriety.

Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner:
A) Is employed in fields completely unrelated to Trump’s administration
B) Was given a white house advisory position, and put in charge of the middle east peace process, negotiated with China while simultaneously engaging in private business with China, all from a private email server just like Hillary Clinton.

So I guess you can say he is cleaning stuff up, but I’d be at a loss to see what he actually made better.

Trump has solicited election interference live on national television. Trump has obstructed legitimate investigations both by a special prosecutor and congress. The ONLY reason he has not yet been declared guilty is the lack of principle on the part of the republican party. And here by principle I obviously do not mean morality, but rather a belief in and willingness to defend the institutions of our democracy. Notice that to deny these facts, as many here do, require the debasement of these very institutions. Prosecutors must be declared not credible. Congressional action must be declared invalid.
So on the one hand we have people willing to stand up for our democratic principles and denounce the plain attack thereon by Trump. On the other we have republicans who either stand idly by, or actively participate in the destruction of faith in those principles and institutions.

@Jeanne_S your wasting your time. Give it 10 years and Trump won’t be so bad anymore and the end of the republic will be coming at the hands of hated republican of the day. Remember when they cried Bush lied and people died? Bush isn’t so bad now.

They are just angry.

I am still waiting for that Instance of solicitation of collusion on live TV.
 
Yes you are correct.Its a waste of time to argue when it falls on blind eyes and deaf ears.This has been an exercise of n futility and really isn’t healthy. The massive turnouts at Trumps rallies show the real sentiments of the voters’ I’m done arguing
 
This whole thread would be hilariously funny, if it would not be so sad. There are those republican politicians who are not scared of Trump’s tweets, and they all understand the disastrous nature of Trump’s policies. The rest are plucking their fists into their ears and chant: “I can’t hear you!”

And then there are “you” who don’t mind that Trump abandoned the Kurds to appease Erdogan, and that he created a pathway for the Russians into Ukraine. Trump has no integrity, his “idols” are the autocrats with the bloodiest hands. He violates the emoluments clause by trying to profit from his presidency. He tries to gut the Constitution’s separation of powers, thumbs his nose to the subpoena powers. He loves his crook friends, after all “similis simili gaudet”.

The good news is that the polls show decreasing support for him. More than 52% are in favor of the impeachment AND the removal of Trump from the presidency. And the process barely started. Several of his core supporters are under investigation and some are already in jail. Giuliani is under criminal investigation. So there is hope. Let’s also remember that Nixon won with a landslide and had to resign before he was impeached. Yes, there is hope.

Now to those who believe that this comes from hate… it is not. It comes from serious disappointment. We thought that there will be some welcome change in Washington, when a new broom will sweep the floor. We had no idea that Trump is a small-time crook, with no backbone, no scruples, a shameless narcissistic liar, whose nepotism places his highly unqualified children into key positions.

Reagan was not the sharpest blade, but he was smart enough to realize that, and surrounded himself with capable people. He did not call himself a “very stable genius”, unlike Trump does. It is very sad that there are almost no candidates to vote FOR.

What makes this thread funny, that none of you antagonists can bring up anything factual against the criticisms, your only argument is: “but the democrats are not better!”. Maybe not, even though that is debatable. But that is not a valid criticism. I would really love to see the REAL Republicans come back, and throw Moscow Mitch and his ilk out.

What was wrong with the status quo before? It seems like every day there are so many disturbing stories about this man’s behavior, especially since he fired John Kelly as his chief of staff, that it makes me not even want to follow the news anymore.
 
Welcome to Trump World, where something literally SPELLED OUT in our Constitution is decried as being illegal.
 
I liked your comment because I feel it is truly rich to be called out on something I didn’t even say by someone who displayed an utter lack of comprehension of our government’s founding document earlier on this thread. You can easily find film of throngs of people adoring Moa, Stalin, Mussolini, Kim Il-Sung, etc… Take your pick. I don’t know whether I should pray for the same self-assuredness coupled with a lack of self awareness that I see displayed here regularly or give thanks that I don’t possess it. Think I’ll go with the latter.
