Rove’s article here explains the concerns with the process as it is being run. Regardless of the outcome the country will be more divided than ever. I just don’t understand if the evidence is so obvious why run it this way.

Woodyl57:
Embrace the constitution with your twist when it suits you but the house has impeachment authority
Trump’s impeachment will come form a vote of the House, just as the constitution demands. You seem to be conflating the impeachment with the inquiry.
Haven’t seen a vote. Only a series of closed hearings where one side is prohibited from calling witnesses.

Haven’t seen a vote
I used the future tense. But as @Woodyl57 pointed out, there have already been a couple of votes on articles of impeachment against Trump. I suspect that there will be more.

Correct. 3 years, 3 votes to initiate the process, 3 failed votes (1 under D control). This time no vote to initiate (Legal I suppose I have heard), keep the minority party at arms length, this might get the results they want?..but the evidence is obvious (I have also heard) so I personally don’t understand the need to run it this way.

I haven’t seen one bite in favor of initiating an impeachment investigation.
I don’t think you will, and from what I have heard they technically don’t have to, though it was done in both the Clinton and Nixon cases. They have 40+ vulnerable seats that don’t want to go on record. Seems the strategy is to garner support by controlling the narrative through selective leaks and Schiff making promises like he did for 2 years with Russia.

I heard the Sondland interview didn’t go well for the cause as did the volker interview. Even heard one accusation that Sondland lied. Of course, who knows. All the minority can do is complain until they formalize the process. Rove explains it better in the article I posted.

I think there’s more to it than that.
First, as soon as they hold a vote, Republicans can call witnesses. They do not want that to happen. They do not want the so-called whistleblower to testify, from what I can tell.
Second, I don’t think they have any intention of impeaching. As soon as they send it to the Senate, they lose control of the narrative. The Turtle takes over the narrative.

They want Trump to resign.

The last thing they want regardless of anything else is an election against him in 2020.

Trump won’t step down .He isn’t your status quote Republican,he’s not gonna roll over. All of this is a waste of time and stressful for our Country

We may view it as a waste of time, but if one is among those who revile western civilization, who oppose individual liberty in favor of state power, this is entirely necessary.

Are you speaking for yourself, or is this what you imagine about others?

As has been pointed out already in this thread, what the current Republican party is doing is attacking the legitimacy of the constitutional checks on executive branch. So while the democrats do indeed believe government programs can improve life for Americans, they implement them through ordinary legislative means. Republicans, on the other hand, appear to believe in a more authoritarian government than is laid out in the constitution and are attempting to implement it by a dereliction of their constitutional duties, and obstruction of their peers who attempt to execute them.

Agree! The lust for power and control by th Dems is at this point irrational. How anyone despite their personal feelings towards Trump, could even entertain the possibility of what the leftis/Dems have in mind is beyond troubling.

I asked @empacae how he thought the democrats were going to illegitimately remove Trump, and got an evasive non-answer. Can you do any better? What do the “leftis/Dems” actually have in mind, specifically.
