I won’t be calling that is for sure. Unless I call in to tell them to end it. We are a country of laws and Obama went around those laws. 20 years ago Bill Clinton gave a state of the union address in which he opposed illegals. This was the DNC position. When he gave that speech almost everyone stood up and clapped. Yet today they same people that held this position now oppose it. The only reason the democrats now want all borders removed is it will proved them with more power. They no more care about the middle class american or even the illegals. They care for power and only power.

This is NOT about politics, that lives over in the news forums.

This is a Moral issue, our Bishops have asked us to defend our brothers and sisters. I will heed the request of these Shepherds.

Nope, I won’t be calling either. No rewarding illegals from coming here. Their parents created the problem. We are not responsible for fixing it. Besides, where does it end? Another crop of illegals, another amnesty and it goes on and on.

The only reason I’m not calling in is because phone calls make me nervous. But I did send an email. (And to those for whom calling is hard, your representative most likely has a listed email on their website.)

And yet again you continue with the same rant against Democrats. Nothing productive or beneficial to the conversation.

So much for the Church’s authority in matters of faith and morals. That only counts when it aligns with the RNC platforms.

Sorry, but I will not be calling. As a group, I feel our focus needs to be on our children and building up the Catholic Church in our communities.

Of all things to ask us, the Bishops should be focused on their flocks here not supporting the Democrat party platform. Do you think they spend this much time enhancing public high school Catholic teaching? Or maybe organizing fantastic Catholic Summer camps that aren’t just sports.
Our public school kids are so involved in secular teachings and interfaith programs emphasizing all religions they don’t know what Catholic is. Besides many studies have shown the Latino groups that arrive here over 50% join a Protestant church or are “Americanized” in public schools.

Absolutely unfair! Illegals are in violation of the law (whatever happened to render unto Caesar, you Bishops?)
I won’t be calling in because illegals break the law just for starters. Never mind the bleeding the system and other criminal acts.) This isn’t faith or morals, it is a point of law.

This has to do with the personal opinion of Bishops on a matter of immigration policy. A Bishop who thinks we should reward illegal entry into this country is wrong, and he has no authority to call us to agree with him.

You’re correct, I am against giving up my liberty. The church use to teach responsibility, teach your children to obey the law, take care of your family, love your parents.

No, the Bishops have asked that I allow those who disobey the law to be placed above those that do obey the law.

50% is a high number I would think for people coming from predominantly Catholic countries. Maybe lay Catholics should consider what they could do to keep these folks in the fold rather than being critical of them.

Not calling. Reasons have been adequately covered. Besides, I already know how our rep and two senators are going to come down on this issue.

D

The stat of 50% was from a Catholic News station. They said after the first generation 50% leave the Catholic faith bc they consider America a Protestant country and that’s what everyone does. I agree we should do more for our own kids in public school and new Catholics here.
The RE programs to teach public school kids the faith are very weak. We also need better summer camps for these kids learn Catholicism for an entire week. Immerse them.
These kids are in public schools. They already are secular. They don’t need the interfaith program (a program that displays all symbols of all religions) in their classroom every week but that’s what the USCCB requires. So our kids sit in classrooms with Muslim, Hindu and every other faiths symbols on display all year. This absolutely makes no sense.

Oh I didn’t mean to imply I doubted the figure. But I can see how my wording could have been taken that way. I only meant such a high number should be alarming I’d think and maybe the Catholic faithful need to look at how they interact with and speak about people who have gone elsewhere. Rather than being so critical. I’m just thinking of that old saying that you can draw more flies with honey than vinegar.

I thought that number was really high too. But then they said it’s the Americanizing in public schools. The same is happening to all Catholic kids who aren’t new immigrants.
The culture here, Hollywood, public education, public places are not “God like”. God is removed from everything. When I was little. Moses was on every year. Jesus was out on display at Christmas. Movies had a Christian sub theme, etc. I think its the entire environment our kids and these immigrant kids are growing up in.
