Is it a sin to get angry at someone? Or is it just a sin when you become a monster with your fury? Some examples would be nice.
Thank you

I think Jesus would disagree with you.Getting angry is not wrong. Refusing to control your anger can be.
Really? I have only found one Gospel passage that tells of his emotion at this time and that emotion was zeal, not anger (John 2:17).It is fine to get angry, Christ did when He ran into the temple and destroyed the merchants set up there.
I do not find in Scripture that he āwent running into the templeā¦ā Could you provide the verse?Well when Christ goes running into the temple with a whip, running everyone out, and knocking over tables, I would see this as a form of anger. In this scenario I believe zeal was the word they used to describe his righteous anger and the motive of love for the Father behind this righteous anger.
In Johnās gospel there are about 2 pages devoted to calling the pharaseeās all sorts of things. And they werenāt nice. And sprinkled every now and then at other times, more is heaped on them. Of course since written words did not have volumn or expression, it canāt be proved how heated it was. But the words themselves are nice and warm.Really? See, there it is again. Where in Scripture does it say that Christ was angry.I believe thereās a righteous anger, which Jesus demonstrated in the temple with the money changers and in response to hypocrisy,
I like your description here.and a wrong kind of anger, which is the one we more than often experience. When the anger is right, itās controlled, itās in response to a real evil, and itās ācleanā, leaving no trace of the caustic feelings that linger after the average human confrontation. Iāve experienced this variety like, maybe, once in my life.
All we are saying is what calm, non-angry man goes into a temple, overturns tables, and has a whipSee, there it is again. Where in Scripture does it say that Christ was angry.

Well I disagree that Jesus actions required anger. A zealous person of great determination could also drive out the vendors and over turn the tables.Iām sorry it didnāt say specifically that he went running into the temple in John 2, but it does say he made a whip and turned over the tables. These arenāt the actions of a calm person without anger. This is a man filled with righteous anger.
Well you have me there.And Paul also says in Ephesians 4 āeven if you are angry do not sin.ā We can be angry so long as we do not sin.
So what you are saying is that itās OK to be angry at a thing (evil), but not at a person. Is that right?In your example of what Christ says, Christ is talking of the derisive hateful, anger. It is the revenge anger of the selfish who are putting down others to raise themselves up. Christ was referring to getting angry and sinning by insulting others. Anger though can also come in the form of hating what is evil (but not people). For example, we tend to be angry at scams and other things that try and cheat you out of money. That is not wrong because those things are evil. We are to have an anger and passion against all that is evil. This is what righteous anger is. It is the despisal of evil that motivates us to end it just like Christ causing chaos in the temple and overturning tables. But you are right in denying sinful anger that leads to hatred of the person.
Well he made the whip to drive out the animals. That does not require anger. And a person can be zealous and determined without being angry also.All we are saying is what calm, non-angry man goes into a temple, overturns tables, and has a whip.
I agree that this is certainly the common understanding. However, I see nothing mentioned in Scripture except zeal.It seems that Christ is angry and He must have been doing it in the right way.
So what you are saying is itās OK to be angry at a thing (evil) but not at a person. Is that correct?So, righteous anger is not the anger Christ preached against (which is hatred of others) but anger and passion against evil (like working to end abortion). With righteous anger the goal is to rid the world of an evil, in sinful anger the goal is to rid the world of good. So, of course Christ would preach against sinful anger. So to say there is no righteous anger is to say that we arenāt to have anger toward sin. Yet we are to reject it with our whole beings and to despise it.
The point is that anger is OK, James-itās a normal and proper human emotion in the right situation, but, due to our fallen nature, like other human behavior itās exploited, abused, twisted into something it wasnāt originally meant for.See, there it is again. Where in Scripture does it say that Christ was angry.
OK -And yes, anger at a person is sinful (we are not to judge) but anger at evil and injustice is good. So, that is why we can be angry that their is abortion and that our culture has turned toward it. However, if someone gets an abortion, we donāt go on a rampage and hate them. We can tell them why it was wrong and try and help them, but we canāt hate others.
Ok, you donāt have to make it into you being right. It doesnāt matter. And Iām sorry that I was mistaken and took it to mean anger in general, my bad.OK -
Then the answer to the OPās question is Yes, it is a sin. for his Question was, and I quote;
"Is it a sin to get angry at someone?"
