They explain that away as well and say well what about infants who die without baptism and I say of course they are saved, there are always exceptions. But then they say well baptism isn’t necessary for salvation then.
Going slightly off topic here, someone may have already mentioned it, I haven’t read the whole thread, but the opinion was much more common in the past, and taught by many saints (Augustine, I believe, taught it) that since babies still have an original sin, they cannot enter heaven unbaptized. However, since they have committed no sins themselves they are not damned, either. They go to a place called Limbo… not quite heaven, but the highest state of happiness possible outside of it.
Not dogma or anything like that, but an interesting though, nonetheless.
