Do any of you get scared easy if you watch something on TV that is suppose to be scary? I’m much more sensitive now that my faith is more developed than I used to be. Like last night I was listening to an old interview by George Lutz, the step dad from the real life Amityville horror movie. And although I kept crossing myself last night, and although I didn’t get nightmares, I felt afraid all night in my sleep. And I remember my dreams, they weren’t scary.
I also cried a few months back when someone in the house was watching Wise Guys, a mafia movie. I used to like it when I was younger, so when I came out of my room while it was on TV and went into the kitchen for something, and went back into my room, I knew that when Tommy was kissing his mom goodbye what was going to happen next. And why did that bother me? Because the whole thing was just evil. And when I say I cried, I mean my face scrunched up and I got that ugly cry.
Anybody else this sensitive after growing in their faith?

It’s good that you are sensitive to things around you. I can’t say that scary movies or tv bothers me much. When I was a child, I grew up in a sometimes scary household, so the stuff on tv didn’t scare me - at least I could turn that off or walk away.

If you have been ill in the past this may have influence on your fear, esp. if it was traumatic and debilitating. If that is the case you will probably feel better as your health returns-at least I pray so. Also, you may with to mention this to your Dr. and priest, esp. if the fears and sensitivity feelings linger. Praying for you.

If it helps, I’ve had other friends say that they cannot watch what they used to because of them growing in their faith. That they are no longer desensitized by things that they used to be. So, I’d say it’s a good thing that I am so sensitive to shows and movies about evil. Even Padre Pio used to literally run away from people who brought up impure topics growing up.
I just wanted to hear from others who have experienced this or would know more about this.

A little while back, I was in bed listening to an episode of Coast to Coast on the radio. I had to turn it off because it really spooked me and prayed quite a while that I wouldn’t have bad dreams because of it. I slept fine, didn’t have any nightmares. In fact, I can’t even remember what the show was about now, but it was upsetting at the time. Some paranormal/demonic thing, no doubt.
