It’s been my personal experience to be careful what I ask for…
I admit to watching “Ghost Adventures” because these younger men tend to get all macho and calling the ghost out. They say “Use my energy!” CRAZY!“I watched one once where they set up cameras and all that and one of the “hunters” tried calling one of the ghosts out. As soon as he did there was a loud bang and I think he messed himself, I couldn’t stop laughing. I don’t think those shows are bad to watch, but like everyone else says, it’s all in how you look at it.”

I agree with Church Militant. I also recommend “Destination Truth” for the entertaiment value. I find it interesting that in these shows, they present the two types of ghosts St Maximilian Kolbe tried to explain in some of his writings. He believed (and I agree with him) that the two known gosthly manifestations could be explained in the following way.We watch this stuff pretty regularly and there are really only 2 that are worth it. The rest are just sensationalistic hogwash IMO.
The TAPS show, Ghost Hunters and their spin off, Ghost Hunters International. These groups use scientific and objective means to either debunk or verify paranormal activity.

My wife and I sometimes discuss what we have seen and we often come back to the line from the Nicene Creed which says that we believe in God…the maker of all things seen and unseen.
I am a serious skeptic, but have some very close family members who have had such experiences that were it coming from anyone else, I’d blow 'em off, but their accounts are straightforward and without hysterics or self aggrandizement so…
These two shows are interesting and inoffensive so far as I can tell.
The rest are (IMO) a waste of time. (BTW…I agree about the commercials!)
The folks from Ghost Hunters always try to take a pseudo-scientific attitude for their show. I’m sure that if they were to bring a priest or deacon to accompany them and bless the haunted site before filming starts the show would become very boring.I agree with you, Catholic Deacon, that is what I have heard (about ghosts that have attachments and seem to be a film that keeps playing over and over again…a form of Purgatory?)
I’ve always wondered why the ghosts are never asked about Christ or what happened to them after their deaths? Maybe the ghost hunters are forbidden from doing it, but it would be interesting to see how they’d react to the Lord’s name.
Many such shows promote occult practices that certainly are against the Catholic faith. We can do nothing for the dead but pray for their souls & do other forms of penance on their behalf. If they’re apparitions of angels or saints, we need only to ask for their prayers- they need nothing from us. If they’re apparitions of demons or of the damned, nothing we can do will help them escape- and they have no desire to help us. Shows like that seem a waste of time at best, and possibly can create temptation to explore the occult.I am sure you have seen the large number of shows on TV that’s purpose is to locate and prove the existence of ghosts. Is watching these shows against the Catholic faith?
We believe in spirits. People can call them ghosts I call them spirits…its just a person who doesnt have a body anymore. I dont think its against our faith to watch Ghost Hunters, Ghost Lab, BUT…I do not watch shows that call up the dead that conjure up spirits. THAT i believe is against our faith. All around you, your loved ones that have passed are still there. They sometimes let you know they are there. During hard times they can be there all the time. My grandfather passed way, I knew right away he was ok. My family was mourning and crying because he did pass all of a sudden from a massive heart attack. I did cry Im not going to say I didnt, but I didnt cry because he “passed” I cried because I knew I wasnt going to physically hug him, touch him, kiss him see him. This was in 2006 that he passed and still to this day whenever there is something good or even something bad, I feel him around and I smell him…he had a certain smell, one of flour tortillas…LOL and now I smell that…and we dont cook flour tortillas (bad for you!)I am sure you have seen the large number of shows on TV that’s purpose is to locate and prove the existence of ghosts. They dont hide. Their energy is different from ours. In order to make themselves known they need to draw energy and Im sure that takes a lot. They have to draw energy from their surrounding sources, like computers, tv.s batteries. They are not like us…they have no physical body so how can they communicate to the physical world? Its just another way of living, we dont understand…because most people are scared to…and no not all of it is evil…not all of them are demons. However so many people just chalk it up to something else, people dont see the opportunity to still “feel” their loved ones around.my question is this: If the ghost’s are from God, why do they hide?
I have felt and seen things since I was a small girl. My first experience was when I was about 8. My parents left me with my grandparents, they went to a party. I was asleep, this is according to my grandparents and parents…and i woke up crying and yelling to take someone out of the street he was going to get runned over. I must have looked like a night terror and they just chalked it up to a bad dream. A few days later across the way from us, we lived in front of a creek, a kid was playing and a big van turned the corner fast and hit him. He died, the boy. So many things have happend to me this would turn into a long post. My husband says I have a “gift” but I can honestly tell you I DONT WANT IT! I predicted the death of my best friend…but I didnt know it was her, I thought it was me. I told my husband, then boyfriend, that I was going to die and I wasn’t going to see the age 24. I told him I didnt know how or why but something that had to do with my head…I said it almost felt like a gun shot. 2 months after turning 23 my best friends brain swelled up and she passed away. I dont know if thats what she felt, but they never were able to tell why her brain swelled.Curious: How many of us (both Catholic or n-C) have actually had some kind of Ghost/paranormal experience?
I have, but I am certain that it was an angelic healing touch.
