Libertas, I know this won’t make the problem go away, I’m just saying that I can’t stand reading what she says. I haven’t been able to since I read her overthrow the Vatican quote.

I didn’t read the article, and didn’t have to. All I know is, despite whoever spoke about it, these ads are an abomination to God and man.

As I said before, we are the only true religion on earth, and we have to start acting like it! :yup:

Sure, or this one:

Stop Fornicating
Stop Adultery
Stop AIDS
Actually, we have to get Stop Homosexual Sex in there too just so everyone is crystal clear.

:crying: This must be the beginnings of the final persecution of the Church. The enemy is secularism, homosexuality, and the humbling of the Church.

I love John Paul II dearly, but why did he have to humble the Church so much, apologising for crimes one thousand years old? He has set the Church up as being submissive and vulnerable, which is exactly the sort of image we do not need to portray of ourselves! Why did Pacelli have to die? We need a Cardinal like him or Achille Ratti to be elected lead the Church. Men who will not tolerate attacks on the Church, nor humble the Church before the evil of our time.

We are in the only completely true religion on Earth, and I say it is about time we started acting like it.

Canonise Pius XII in haste!
Amen to that I hope Benedict VI will step up and tell the world that The Church isn’t gonna take it anymore and start craking down hard on the liberals

What is a “good” Catholic?

Christ said nobody is “good” save the one who sent Him.

Therefore there is no such thing as a “good” Catholic.

Therefore it is impossible to assert that “good” Catholics do any particular behavior, since they technically don’t exist.

Would they admit to the objective claim that the Catholic Church as a whole considers them (condoms) sinful?

Servus Pio XII:
This must be the beginnings of the final persecution of the Church. The enemy is secularism, homosexuality, and the humbling of the Church.
The humbling of the Church is now a negative??? Well lets see the example set by Christ which the Church as His bride must follow… Come to me, all you that labour, and are burdened, and I will refresh you. Take up my yoke upon you, and learn of me, because I am meek, and humble of heart: and you shall find rest to your souls.

Surely to be the true Church of Christ it must humble itself just as the heart of Jesus is humble.
Servus Pio XII:

Sins are sins no matter what. Crimes are crimes no matter what. They are purged only through the mercy of God. The Church is not responsible, the humanity within is. If the humanity within the ‘Bride of Christ’ is responsible for crimes and sins, which they are, they must atone and seek the forgivness of God. It is a basic requirement and necessity. The late Holy Father never apologised for the Church but for the actions of those within it. Just look at the text of the letter John Paul II left at the Western Wall. Do you not relaise that seeking forgivness through humility is one huge binding force and one which depletes animosity?
Servus Pio XII:

You insult the Holy Spirit by these comments. Pacelli or more correctly his Holiness Pope Pius XII died because he was old. His earthly life was over. I find your question very puzzling. Death comes to us all.
Servus Pio XII:
We are in the only completely true religion on Earth, and I say it is about time we started acting like it.
Well them act like Christ whom you profess to believe in. Learn from Him. See how gentle and humble our God is. If you have forgotton, this image should remind you of our humble God:

Servus Pio XII:
I pray for a Pope like Pius again.
Doing this will blind your eyes and deafen your ears to the wonders that our present Holy Father is working in the Church and in the world through the power of the Holy Spirit. Indeed this type of prayer is a blindness in itself. You would be far better pressed to pray for the safety, welfarer and intentions of our present Pontiff.

I agree with Servus Pio XII (to an extent) I’m tired of seeing my Church which I know is the only totatlly true Religion/Church after converting from Protestantism (which had filled my head with all sorts of lies) being trampled on by the Liberals and it’s teachings mocked by certain types of people who want to be “ordained” or who want this teaching or that teaching to be downplayed or done away with all together. There were times when even Christ wasn’t so humble (remeber how he chased the money changers out of the temple with a whip?) The Church as the imitator of Christ needs to stand up and firmly say NO Liberalism/Radical Modernism is a cancer that has infected the Church and before it spreads further it must be cut out!

Surely to be the true Church of Christ it must humble itself just as the heart of Jesus is humble.
My favorite part is where Jesus humbly picks up a whip, overturns tables, and physically kicks the money-changers out of the Temple.

I completely agree that we need to imitate Jesus!

Yes, but Jesus forgot His whip when he was healing sinners and washing their feet.

Also, I think it may also be a case where “True Love nevers has to say you are sorry.” We hear of Jesus weeping, but do we hear about him apologizing? No. Why not? Because He didn’t do the wrong things that Church officials did.

I think we are supposed to pick and choose when we are to act like Jesus. On another thread (guess I’ll have to search – it may have died) we were discussing the fact that Jesus ate with sinners and let sinful women touch Him. Many felt that does not give humans permission, because He was immune to falling prey to temptation and we aren’t. So it isn’t really about acting like Jesus; it’s about claiming to be like Jesus because we can find an example where His actions appear to match what we have already decided we wish to do.

Giant sized condom ads are inexcusable…especially ads that claim good Catholics use them.
Put away the washwater.
Give me a whip and fast.

“Banning condoms kills?”
What about “Trusting condoms kills?”

I went to the Catholics4Life site, this is supposedly a response to sexual abuse by the Church? What are they saying? It would have been OK as long as the molesting priests had used condoms? :whacky:

Then back at the news story, they believe sex is sacred? “The ads send a message to young people about their responsibilities to one another,” said Kissling. “And the campaign respectfully reminds the church of its moral obligation to promote life.”

This is beyond crazy. This calls for drastic attitudes, if not measures! Even I as a confessed “heterodox” Catholic can’t figure out a way to drive the foolishness our of this tripe!

Golly. What to do? Hmmm.

In hobby shops they sell little cans of spray paint. I’ve seen them used, for example, to change speed limit 30 signs to speed limit 80. They’re fairly easy to conceal.

A quick spritz when nobody’s looking, and maybe the word “good” or even “good Catholics” might be modified to something more appropriate, even if a smudge. We have three languages, so it may be easier in one language than the other.

I was looking for the ads which were supposedly on the condoms4life website so we could plan this, but I couldn’t find them. Wimps. They must have known I was looking for them and buried them where I couldn’t find them.

Why go 80 in a car when you can shoot more accurately and more safely with a good paintball gun?

Alan: It’s not a “pick and choose” thing. Jesus was perfectly consistant. Sinners are to be loved, and forgiven, but they are not to be allowed to profane what is sacred. Part of the love is in stopping the profaning of sacred things, as it prevents those sinners from delving further into their sin. There is a limit to this, obviously, but in profaning the Church with such an add those people have crossed the line between sinning and defiling a sacred thing.

There is absolutely no inherent contradiction between the whip and the embrace. They are both signs of love.

I’m puzzled by your post, and I’m now even more puzzled by the part I quoted from contemplative. I must have made a technical error, because I did not intend to refute as it surely must have seemed like.

I’m sorry for the confusion.

The way I figure, contemplative can go right ahead with the whip, while I see what kind of support I can gather for the “ad editing” campaign. I don’t know how susceptible these ads are to such editing, though, so it’s just a pie in the sky idea.

oh look, this poster has TWO MEN on it! I suppose these ‘good catholics’ are keeping to the churches teaching on gay sex too! NOT!

It would be great if Pope Benedict XVI said something about Catholic Sexuality while at WYD. That would kinda make all these ads look pretty dumb…just something simple, honest, blunt, and faithful to the teachings of the church (which appears to be what Pope Benedict does very well). I’d be great, since he’s in a position to influence soooooo much with so little effort.

You’re darn right they aren’t. They are following the “smarter than the Church” plan for safety.

Now how can a few touches with spray paint or permanent marker improve this? I’m not sure the text can be fixed. How about devil horns? A few blackened teeth?

Call me a biggot, but they just look like plain old “fags” to me. I don’t look at them and think, “oh look there are a couple of GOOD Catholics.”

Gosh now I’m seeing how easy it is to judge. It’s hard to see how the world could not be better off without these two models on it.

That would be funny if those guys aren’t even gay, but are heterosexual models only doing it for pay! (I doubt it, but I liked the thought.) Then they come home to their wives and they cash the check.

Does anyone know how to work a paintball gun?
Not for anything…I am just wondering.
