where is your link showing how evil roughhousing is on the psyche?
Why do I need a link to be skeptical of evidence presented for it?

My thinking is that the alleged benefits do not uniquely derive from roughhousing. and those do not require it, and that other mean may better avoid the downside of roughhousing going too far.

Its becoming clear how some see all overtly masculine behaviour as “toxic,” regardless of reality.
Yes, they are practicing guilt by association. They implied rough play was also leading to bullying instead of constructive social learning and the building of friendships… One of the articles summed it up well in my mind.
As a species, humans are hard-wired for roughhousing, so the body and mind are happy when we let it happen. According to studies in neuroscience, when the play circuits in the brains of mammals are activated, they feel joy.

Maybe instead of roughhousing, they could learn to be better men by doing stereotypically feminine things, right?

It’s how boys learn boundaries and self control. And yes, it is also how they play.

Back when I was a kid, we often fought BECAUSE we were friends. We just enjoyed doing it.

You could easily continue buying Gillette products and also continue groping and catcalling women, or continue bullying people, or continue drinking beer, or whatever other masculine traits you’re afraid of losing. Buying Gillette products won’t magically have the supposed values of the company rub off on you. Gillette have exploited a controversial yet popular talking point, they aren’t going to turn you effeminate.

Either way, good or bad, Gillette did achieve what they wanted to achieve.

A lot more people are talking about them.

I’m pretty much done with it now. Focusing on calling out those public figures who rushed to judgment on Covington Catholic High School kids, and still obstinately refuse to admit that they were wrong.
Not going to discuss that further, here. There are already two threads going. This thread has run it’s course–thanks to everyone for participating!

This is very bad, they already had fairly universal brand recognition. This ad was intended to polish that brand, not dip it in hydrochloric acid.

Any press is good press only applies if you are the newbie, someone without any name recognition. Then even bad press pulls you from obscurity and you can build on that.

A tutorial on the the traditional wet shave, with a tip 'o the fedora to Brett McKay over at ArtofManliness.com. (Ladies, if you’re watching, control yourselves over the Clark Gable undershirt—I’m taken.)

Gentlemen, I hope you get half as much out of shaving the old fashioned way as I do. It’s not the fastest way to shave, but it’s by far more satisfying, more pleasurable, more meditative, and certainly results in a closer shave. Here are the links for all the shaving products that I mention in this video (and which I have personally used to great benefit) that you’ll need to get started: Merkur Safety Razor https://amzn.to/2NfQxBO

Russian Astra blades https://amzn.to/2KTwc8C

Your face is unique, so feel free to order some sample packs…experimenting is half the fun: https://amzn.to/2NPXlqX

Apparently now the Super Bowl will be pre-empted by a 4 hour special on toxic masculinity. I read it in Babylon Bee, so I know it’s true.

I am surprised it’s only four hours (just joking).
