So this year instead of making a gingerbread house, I am making a gingerbread nativity scene. I was wondering though what would be the best appropriate, reverent way to dispose of it at the end of the season? Can it be eaten? Thrown out?

Just doesn’t seem right to waste it being edible, but it seems strange to think of eating some of the images (a cookie in the shape of baby Jesus) 😊

Any ideas for decorating it?

I eat the real Jesus in Sunday mass. I’m sure he wouldn’t mind it when just in cookie form.

We eat ours every year. The kids have been fighting over who gets to eat the manger for 10 years now. They enjoy making the nativity scene each year and Christmas morning after stockings, they enjoy eating it with egg nog.

Thanks!

7armyrugrats, can I ask when you make it? I know they can go stale fast…

I usually just google a recipe each year and follow it. We don’t decorate for Christmas until the 20th at the earliest. We usually make the nativity scene, a house and a train or some people on the 22nd.
