So the Church allows for a perversion? When our Holy Father used female altar servers in papal Masses, he was perverting the Liturgy?:clapping::yup:
It’s a perversion. Girls just shouldn’t be doing it, period.

Those 3 bolded sections are incompatible.Semper. Arianism is a belief that says Jesus was not fully God…and if you read my postings you will clearly see that is not what I am saying. I am saying that Jesus had pre-existence, an existence in the form of Jesus of Nazareth (the incarnation) and Jesus the Christ, the Cosmic everlasting Jesus of all time. The entire nature of Jesus has been the same always, he is everlasting and that my friend is basic catholic teaching.
What I was pointing out is that the Jesus of Nazareth was more likely to be limited to human limits, and he operated in the Hebrew culture of the first century therefore he chose men as his partners in the work that the Father needed him to do…but are we limited to that socio-cultural aspect of Jesus of Nazareth…that is more proper my question when Jesus the Christ might be more open to female alter girls and perhaps even priests…
Bruce Ferguson

But, somehow you think that Jesus of Nazareth is different from Jesus the Christ? Well, that’s wrong. Jesus was both from Nazareth and the Messiah… the Christ from the moment when He was conceived in Mary’s womb, to the when He died from crucifixion, to when He ascended into Heaven for the last time. The entire nature of Jesus has been the same always
The entire nature of Jesus has been the same always
The entire nature of Jesus has been the same always
Look at how these statements conflict. Especially given what you said prior to them… which I took the liberty of triple quoting.Jesus of Nazareth was more likely to be limited to human limits,
Jesus the Christ might be more open to female alter girls and perhaps even priests…
I respect your choice as “no”, but if the only reason is that which you posted…No.
What if a girl is serving Mass and gets it into her head that she wants to be a priest?
Wilton Gregory is AWESOME!!My answer is that my daughter will be an altar server at Mass celebrated by the Archbishop of Atlanta on March 31.

Why would anyone in their right mind despair over Catholics taking one position over another when the Church herself offers us all a choice? Bishops can allow or disallow female altar servers, priests can use or not use female altar servers and the Church’s documents state that the tradition of male altar servers is a “nobel custom” and that males shoud be encouraged to serve. In many countries it is unheard of or very rare for females to serve at the altar. Obviously, there are many people in their right minds who prefer altar servers to be male. Why would anybody in their right mind object to female altar servers? - I despair!
When did she say that it was a perversion of the Liturgy? She said it was a perversion of the role of the altar server. Many people would say that Pope Benedict made a mistake by allowing females to altar serve. So the Church allows for a perversion? Actually I didn’t specify, but yes, that is what I meant. I believe many Catholics don’t even realize that altar BOYS (for they always were BOYS) had a path to the priesthood, at least they had that option, whereas when girls started serving, there is no point at all to them being there. The priesthood is male, and that will never change. Nuns have no business on the altar, so there’s no connection for a girl to serve and then progress to being a religious sister - no reason to serve in that way. When did she say that it was a perversion of the Liturgy? She said it was a perversion of the role of the altar server. Many people would say that Pope Benedict made a mistake by allowing females to altar serve.
It still does not matter. Altar service is clearly not necessary for the developing female spirtuality. The reason no female saints were is because it wasn’t allowed. .
It can’t lead to vocations to the priesthood, but it may lead to vocations to religious life.Thats exactly what i was thinking. Their can never be women priests so It could’nt lead to a vocation for women. It should only belong to boys because they are the only ones that can have a vocation and we do need many more priests in this day. Just my personal opinion.
How? Serving on the altar is nothing that female religious can do. I mean, it really is meaningless except for helping the priest…For a boy or young man, there is a career path that is open to him. Women can’t even be deacons in the Church. I would like to see any statistics on how many girls who are altar servers go on to become nuns. How could that service inspire one to join an order, since you would never get to do that job again…It can’t lead to vocations to the priesthood, but it may lead to vocations to religious life.
Good for her!My answer is that my daughter will be an altar server at Mass celebrated by the Archbishop of Atlanta on March 31.

I like to think that I’m in my right mind–and I very much prefer altarboys. Our new parish (we moved 900 miles) allows female altar servers, but I only allow my three sons to serve (which works rather nicely as there are “teams” of three so they are a team. In our previous parish, the pastor had restricted it to altarboys and never had a problem keeping enough boys available to serve. Why would anyone in their right mind despair over Catholics taking one position over another when the Church herself offers us all a choice? This:thumbsup: You don’t have to go on to do the same “job”…it can inspire our young women to be closer to God through religious life. I think our young women desperately need that in today’s culture that throws so much at them. Perhaps it will help lead them away from that mindset of being used, of contraception, and of leaving the church. Holy Catholic women is in the best interest of everyone! Who do you think is giving birth to our future priests and deacons? It can’t lead to vocations to the priesthood, but it may lead to vocations to religious life.
If a pastor came in and used only males…that is his right…as the church allows. But if a pastor decides to use females as well…well the church allows that too.It still does not matter. Altar service is clearly not necessary for the developing female spirtuality.
So if a pastor came into a parish and forbade altar girls, it would not affect the development of an authentic Catholic spirituality.
I was just thinking about this scenario today…I like to think that I’m in my right mind–and I very much prefer altarboys. My daughter hasn’t ever expressed a desire to serve (but then she probably is astute enough to know how I feel).
