Hi.
I know Girl Scouts have been linked to Planned Parenthood and various radical feminist groups, and I am aware that at one time (in the mid-70’s) the Girl Scouts were shunned by Catholic Schools altogether because of their anti-Catholic feminist views (at least in my Archdiocese). I want to know how they crept back into our Catholic schools. Can anyone shed some light?? My parish’s Catholic school has loads of girls currently involved in Girl Scouts and they even hold their meetings in our school cafeteria. They also sell their cookies outside of church when Mass is letting out. I want to bring the matter to our Pastor’s attention, but I cannot seem to find any materials that would back me up. Every time I find something on line, it’s from several years ago (like the Waco cookie boycott of 2004). I do know that our chapter is not involved with Planned Parenthood or feminist groups, but they are still donning the Girl Scout logo and promoting the group as a whole, which really bothers me. I feel like we’ve made a compromise, to say the least. Can anyone direct me to a web site or article stating that Catholic Schools should not promote Girl Scouts even if their specific Chapter does not support Planned Parenthood, and why? I’d appreciate any feedback. Thank you.
