Humble maid - prayers that you can find a doctor to cure your illness instead of giving you hormonal birth control to simply mask the symptoms.
Anyone holding such a belief is committing heresy and is in a state of mortal sin and cannot receive Communion. No one is giving up on anyone just stating facts. There are so many things that happen to all sorts of people but most mentally (down sydrome) can never be healed unlkess God Chooses to. So birth control; for them is a must in my eyes, haveing family members who are and have been fixed.
Good for you for being my judge, I leave that up to God, maybe you are in a state of mortal sin for judgeing meAnyone holding such a belief is committing heresy and is in a state of mortal sin and cannot receive Communion.
Actually I prayed a long time and I believe it was the Lord Himself that led me to this decision. I tried surgery and other means but they failed; so I continued to pray and found that this helped me very much. I do believe in miracles and I do believe that God helps us indirectly through other means. By the way the medical field does not know what causes the illness but that it is treated and not masked by the hormones.Humble maid - prayers that you can find a doctor to cure your illness instead of giving you hormonal birth control to simply mask the symptoms.
I did not say you. I said “anyone” holding such beliefs. Only you know if it applies to you.Good for you for being my judge, I leave that up to God, maybe you are in a state of mortal sin for judgeing me![]()
If you’re prescribed contraceptive pills for therapeutic purpose, then it is alright. But does its usage prevent pregnancy to occur? You have to get the assurance from your physician that it’s not but only to regularize your hormones production so that you will have normal menstrual cycle and normal menstruation. But if at the same time it also prevents pregnancy to occur, what is your conscience then towards sex at this period? Were you celibate during the treatment (assuming that you’re married and pre-menopause)?With all due respect, I beg to differ. I have been using a contraceptive for the last four years. The reason it was given to me were for medical reasons. In the last 24 years I suffered with each menstration cycle; so much so that it debilated me physically. As a consequence I became seriously anemic to the point where my life was threatened. I was never hospitalized, though I became seriously ill. Now, with this intervention I am well. I never knew what it was like to have a normal menstrual cycle. I gained strength and health. Once my health returned I ceased the contraceptive use because of guilt; I thought about what the church teaches and wondered if I was doing something wrong. Just recently I had returned to the use of the contraceptive because the same problem began to manifest itself.
I believe that the use of contraceptives is both morally challenging and may have many side effects. I don’t agree with its use for preventing pregnancies, there are other more natural ways. However there are always some expections to the rule and I certainly fit into one of them so I speak on behalf of these women.
I always ask God for His help. I prayed to Jesus for His counsel on this issue. I know that He answered me. I believe that the family I have now is what I am blessed with. I choose not to have anymore children but to commit myself to them and the church community.
No, George. Medications to treat disease although they have a contraceptive effect are allowed by the church. But no, artificial birth control is not allowed by the church. There is a difference.Birth control for medical reasons IS allowed by the Church.
You might really find a read of the Catechism to be an eye opener.Good for you for being my judge, I leave that up to God, maybe you are in a state of mortal sin for judgeing me![]()
Well maybe for judging anyone. You did put your reply after my post.I did not say you. I said “anyone” holding such beliefs. Only you know if it applies to you.
Do you actually realise that rejecting one of more of the Church’s teachings is heresy. In case you think I’m making it up here is the official Church teaching on that:
CCC 2089 Incredulity is the neglect of revealed truth or the willful refusal to assent to it. "Heresy is the obstinate post-baptismal denial of some truth which must be believed with divine and catholic faith, or it is likewise an obstinate doubt concerning the same; apostasy is the total repudiation of the Christian faith; schism is the refusal of submission to the Roman Pontiff or of communion with the members of the Church subject to him."
I don’t know what “Church” you are talking about, but it’s not the Catholic Church the last time I lookedBirth control for medical reasons IS allowed by the Church.
So according to whomever if you have a medical problem that birth control can fix you are not suppose to use them. Do you just die or continue to have a serious problem? Sounds a little lame to me.I don’t know what “Church” you are talking about, but it’s not the Catholic Church the last time I looked![]()
First try other methods, if there is no other choice whatsoever and you could die, then one must not be sexually active (married or not) in order to continue treatment. So according to whomever if you have a medical problem that birth control can fix you are not suppose to use them. BTW “whomever” is the Catholic Church TeachingsSo according to **whomever **if you have a medical problem that birth control can fix you are not suppose to use them. Do you just die or continue to have a serious problem? Sounds a little lame to me.
Well I have never read that in the Bible except about Oran. And I !00% disagree with it. If Christ wanted it He would have said so. Now you are free to believe whatever you feel is right for you I think it is great. I had a hystorectomy at the age of 24 because it was a necessary thing. I am now 71 and have and still do enjoy my bedroom time with my husband, so am I sinning tocause I can’t concieve and enjoy sex?BTW “whomever” is the Catholic Church Teachings![]()
You had a hystroectomy and that is different from the use of BCP’s. A woman who has to have a medical hystroectomy is not expected to abstain forever.Well I have never read that in the Bible except about Oran. And I !00% disagree with it. This sounds very much like Protestant thinking. The Teachings of the Church are more than sola scriptura.Well I have never read that in the Bible except about Oran. And I !00% disagree with it. As long as your sexual activity is in conformity with the moral teachings of Holy Mother Church, there is no sin in having life saving surgery.I had a hystorectomy at the age of 24 because it was a necessary thing. It isn’t Protestant thinking at all, I do use both Bibles thank you very much. Have read the Catechism and still feel as I do. I know what the Church teaches !00%. Just said I didn’t agree with it all so now you have something else to blast me about. Don’t want you to have noone to judge or critize. This sounds very much like Protestant thinking. Christ gave us the Church - dig out that Catechism - give it a read, maybe skip the Baptist Bible study for a few weeks and use that time to learn what the Catholic Church teaches.

Ouch! This is Church Teaching, like it or not. As a Catholic we do not get to pick and choose what we want to agree with.It isn’t Protestant thinking at all, I do use both Bibles thank you very much. We are way off topic - maybe you could open a new thread and explain what you mean by “both Bibles”?It isn’t Protestant thinking at all, I do use both Bibles thank you very much.
