The Sacrament of Confession is administered to living human beings in this life by a priest, whence you receive absolution for your sins. This is why the Church stresses frequent confession, so you don’t “die suddenly” in a state of mortal sin.I also have one more question that I’ve been wondering. I don’t want to start s new thread because I don’t want to get yelled at or anything. But if I die all of a sudden, and haven’t gone to a confession, will I still be able to confess my sins before I’m in Heaven.
Hi Andrew1992.I also have one more question that I’ve been wondering. I don’t want to start s new thread because I don’t want to get yelled at or anything. But if I die all of a sudden, and haven’t gone to a confession, will I still be able to confess my sins before I’m in Heaven.
Confession only happens on earth… but if you simply COULDN’T make it to Confession, yet intended to, - we leave that to God’s mercy… as long as you are repentant and intend to confess your sins asap, - if you die before that time, I think the Church teaching is that you can be forgiven. The problem is if a person doesn’t repent, or puts off confession. (because this could show a lack of repentance and contrition as well). It’s a good idea to simply pray that God would give you the grace of dying with the SacramentsI also have one more question that I’ve been wondering. In fact Jesus does have a Body, - His glorified Body in Heaven. It is still real and physical, just glorified. We won’t be able to hug God in heaven, presuming we make it, because God doesn’t have a body.
When we get out resurrected bodies we may be able to hug Jesus, Mary and the saints. We won’t be able to hug the angels because they are spirits and don’t have bodies but since God permitted at least three of them to appear in human form it might be possible for an angel to receive permission to assume a body for a hug.
Fr Brian Mulady OP told a lovely story. He was visiting a nun who was dying of cancer and in the course of their conversation she told him that she imagined herself wearing a wedding dress and seeing Jesus at the end of a lovely path. She said that she saw herself running down the path and just jumping into His arms.
I love the picture of Jesus welcoming the sinner. I think of it either at the General Judgement or after we have received absolution in confession. Fr Fernandez in In Conversation With God
has a beautiful image of Jesus waiting at the gates of heaven for us saying “here she/he comes!” and being so happy to welcome us. The theology of heaven or reconciliation can sometimes be a little dry and by calling up images we can come to an understanding and appreciation with both our mind and heart.
“Whatever you do for the least of these, you do for me.” - Jesus. How about giving someone around you who may lonely or going through a hard time a hug? I’m sure they need it more than god does

Posting your comment made me think of this picture. I had to share it with you guys. I don’t share many pics, but I have this one on my desktop now.Jesus does need itthis can be difficult to understand but He is lonely too. And He is glad when we help others who are lonely. It’s also true what LittleOne posted.
God bless! and here’s a hug for you :hug1:![]()

.The Angel then rose and took the chalice and host into his hands. He communicated the host to Lucy, the contents of the chalice he gave to Jacinta and Francisco, saying: “Take and drink the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, horribly outraged by ungrateful men. Make reparation for their sins and console your God.”
How seriously Francisco took these words to heart is illustrated in the remaining years of his life. When the seers were sent to school, Francisco realizing that he had but a short time to live, did not have any desire to go to school, but told his sister and cousin to go ahead and he would remain in church where he could make reparation for the outrages, sacrileges and indifferences by which our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament is offended. So penetrated was Francisco with the love of what he called “the hidden God,” that he often spent many hours on his knees in silent adoration before the tabernacle.
That is very true!
While we are on this earth , one of the best ways we can hug God is in the Holy Eucharist. Helping others who are lonely is often a natural extension of this.
We shouldn’t be fooled into thinking that loving Him in the Most Holy Sacrament of the altar isn’t a consolation to Him. That would be seriously underestimating just how dearly God holds our love for Him ; and underestimating His infinite humility.
From the words of the Angel of Fatima :
.
We should believe Jesus can hug us in the most Holy Sacrament of the Altar since he is entirely and wholly present: Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity.

I do as wellI often think to myself how much I wish I could hug Jesus right now. In moments of sadness and joy, it would just be so wonderful!
Because of what Jesus told St. Faustina, I often think about nestling close to His Heart immediately after receiving Him in Holy Communion.![]()
An old thread, but a very good one!I was thinking the very same just now. I’m sure Father God loves giving his children hugs. It would probably feel lovely and warm like sunshine on a summers day. :hug1::heaven:
