If we decide to sacrafice something for lent ex pop, sweets, video games etc… Is there a break on sunday for doing this? I thought I heard of this but wanted to make sure it was the correct teaching of the Church.

I always thought it was the full 40 days, but then again, I could be wrong. I read something that like years ago when learning about Catholicism, but it could’ve been from a more traditionalist site.

I know that you are dispensed on Sundays. Other then that I’m not sure.

If you do your math and include the Sundays of lent it actually comes to more than 40 days 😉 Sundays have always been considered mini-Easters, days to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord, even lenten Sundays.

It’s certainly permissible to take a break from your discipline on these days. I’d say, though, if you’re giving up something like smoking or cursing or any other sinful or possibly-sinful or really harmful activity you’d be wise to continue avoiding such on Sundays - and then to keep right on going after Lent too 😃

Yes, you can take a break on Sundays and that is just what I am doing right at this moment, enjoying a nice latte.
