Quick question - what happens if we fall off the wagon and do not abstain from what we intended to abstain from (i.e. cursing)? I’m hoping it is not having to scourge oneself! 😉

No watching Youtube videos, unless they’re for a school assignment or something similar

I haven’t seen anything yet about a 2019 Nineveh 90–am I missing something, or is this just a mailing list thing?

Exodus 90 🙂

Also, I like to add the Stations of the Cross on the Fridays during Lent.

Fr. Heilman mentioned on some US Grace Force post that his Nineveh 90 would be starting in February. Somebody asked because last year Lent was early and we actually started Nineveh 90 on New Years Day, which was not much fun as there was still a lot of holiday food around and we all had to fast. I am glad it is starting later this year.

You are of course free to start your 90 any time you want. I like to try to do my devotions with US Grace Force, it’s motivating to do them with a group.

And based on my insurance estimate, expendable income is also going to be sacrificed.

I did it last year, too–and yeah, New Years Day was an…interesting…day on which to start the program! Any idea why February this year? I’m signed up for Exodus 90, with a start date of January 21, which means the 90 days will end just in time for Easter. Which feast does that put y’all at?

I’ve tried several internet searches to find out more information about 2019 Nineveh 90, and I’m not able to find anything about it. Perhaps this is a sign confirming my choice this year…

Anyhow, for anyone who might be considering either one of these programs, there’s a lot of overlap between the two in terms of the ascetical disicplines. The rest that follows is my opinion: The strengths of Exodus 90 are the fraternity element, over-arching narrative for the 90 days (escape from slavery to sin in Egypt, and journeying to the Promise Land), and discussions about mimizing the impact on one’s spouse/family and what to do afterwards in terms of reentry and integration. The BIG of strength of Nineveh 90 is the emphasis on attending daily Mass (as much as is possible). Those with a strong Marian devotion will appreciate the emphasis that this program places on the BVM. Additionally, Nineveh 90 is free and open to all. On the other hand, the big weakness of both is the lack of an almsgiving element.

We should get through the joy of Christmas, before getting our hearts into the Lent Season, which doesn’t begin until the end of March.

Being a Christian isn’t about making ourselves miserable, but being joyful of the salvation which we are drawn to in Jesus Christ.

The flowers around the Christmas crib still look nice so the crib stays up on the sofa table. I am looking forward to some “green time” before I bring out the purple vestments again. 😄
