I did it last year, too–and yeah, New Years Day was an…interesting…day on which to start the program! Any idea why February this year? I’m signed up for Exodus 90, with a start date of January 21, which means the 90 days will end just in time for Easter. Which feast does that put y’all at?
I’ve tried several internet searches to find out more information about 2019 Nineveh 90, and I’m not able to find anything about it. Perhaps this is a sign confirming my choice this year…
Anyhow, for anyone who might be considering either one of these programs, there’s a lot of overlap between the two in terms of the ascetical disicplines. The rest that follows is my opinion: The strengths of Exodus 90 are the fraternity element, over-arching narrative for the 90 days (escape from slavery to sin in Egypt, and journeying to the Promise Land), and discussions about mimizing the impact on one’s spouse/family and what to do afterwards in terms of reentry and integration. The BIG of strength of Nineveh 90 is the emphasis on attending daily Mass (as much as is possible). Those with a strong Marian devotion will appreciate the emphasis that this program places on the BVM. Additionally, Nineveh 90 is free and open to all. On the other hand, the big weakness of both is the lack of an almsgiving element.
