Glenn Beck’s Wife Attacked in NYC Park

Glenn Beck says his family was accosted while watching a movie in a New York City park Monday night. On his radio show and his website today, Beck described the incident and said an angry moviegoer kicked a glass of wine onto his wife Tania’s back, and as she got up to walk away, a man shouted: “We hate conservatives here.”

“We didn’t leave. My staff this morning said: ‘Why didn’t you leave right away.’ That was uncomfortable,” Beck said, as he described the incident, which occurred while he and his family were watching a screening of Alfred Hitchcock’s “The 39 Steps” in New York’s Bryant Park. “I said because I have a right to watch a movie and enjoy a movie with my family in the park. I have a right.”

Beck said while he doesn’t expect “a warm welcome in New York City,” what bothered him “was the cowardly behavior of the hateful crowd,” he wrote on his website, glennbeck.com.

“Courage doesn’t come from a bag or a bottle — courage doesn’t come in mobs,” Beck said. “Courage comes alone, quietly. You won’t be drunk and you won’t be in a mob at the ultimate test of courage. You will be alone.

“It’s mob mentality,” he said. “People are braver when it’s in a bag or a bottle, and when they’re in the majority. All I can think of about the people around me all night is that I feel sorry for you — I really feel sorry for you.

WIll you be prepared to say “conservvative thugs” when a liberal celebrity is accosted by a disagreeable crowd?

Anyway, one mild consolation for having stayed is that he got to see an excellent film. 39 steps is one of my favorites. A worthy motivation to stick it out to the end.
 
No, conservative thugs doesn’t roll off the tongue as nicely.

Conservative goon is what I think I would use.
 
I see it as just plain rude. Regardless of conservative or liberal. Just plain rude and lack of respect for another human being. So sad.
 
Of course, this behavior must be condemned whether a liberal or conservative is involved. (Even more so as it interrupted the enjoyment of an Alfred Hitchcock film!) Let’s not generalize the incident to most liberals or most New Yorkers, please.

A man yelled,“We hate conservatives here” as well as other people who said some pretty horrid things;the miscreant who did it even tweeted about it as she was SO proud.So I’d say he met up with some partisan thug liberals in an NYC park.

Tell me about it! Interrupting such a terrific film is in itself almost unforgivable!

I concur. It is a real gem. And, as I am a railway enthusiast, I am always pleased that he was aboard The Flying Scotsman. Robert Donat and Madeleine Carroll were perfect in it.

But back on topic. Beck was right to hold his ground. The person who accosted him was a rude piece of ****. New Yorkers can’t be painted with a broad brush - there are too many of them and too many varieties of them. 🙂

Attacking Glen Beck’s wife is an act of cowardice. It would be the same if a conservative attacked, I don’t know, Rachel Maddow’s partner. No reasonable person would endorse or condone such an act, whoever the victim or the perpetrator was. Pretty sure there’s a commandment concerning that.

Praying for forgiveness for the attacker and recovery for the attacked and her family.

How many supported or condoned this behavior out of the total number of people in the park? New York City has a population of eight to nine million people. There are bound to be some lunatic extremists in such a large population, including liberals, conservatives, independents, and non-partisans. The vast majority of New Yorkers, however, are not like this.

Conservatives. . . YAY . . . GOOD!!

Conservatives are so great!!!
