I beg to differ. There are plenty of prominent fools in politics and in public life. Intelligence isn’t the path to popularity - it can probably be a liability in some cases.

He has talent - he started as a morning zoo shock jock, and has turned that into a political act. That isn’t a sign of greater intelligence, and certainly not a sign of an understanding of history or politics. I don’t know if people follow him blindly on all things, but it seems to take a certain amount of suspension of disbelief to seriously entertain his paranoid visions.
History is replete with people who underestimated their enemies and overestimated their friends.

  1. History is equally replete with people who made good estimates, or were driven by paranoia, believing their enemies to be stronger than they were.
  2. He’s a talk radio host, a brand sold to a certain market niche. He has morphed to increase his audience, and he will probably morph again as times change. He is a product, not a movement. Being a movement isn’t profitable.

Afterall he did say to Forbes magazine that he did not care about the political process but he cared about making money.

Name someone further to the fringe on the right than Beck or Palin. Keyes? Bachman?

That’s the fringe, meaning there’s no where else to go.

Name someone other than Beck who would inspire a counterprotest for an event he claims is nonpolitical. I can’t think of anyone.

That’s polarizing.

It may be that the people on the polarizing fringe are right about everything. It may be that one day they take over (but the fringe isn’t moving into the majority this November, the establishment Republicans might). That doesn’t mean they aren’t polarizing, fringe actors.
I dont find Beck or Palin extreme fringe or polarizing at all. You sure have fallen for the lefts pathetic attempts to label anyone who disagrees with them.

Beck is having a ‘restore honor’ and bring God back into our lives event. How on earth is that a protest? Al Sharpton looks like a dope for protesting that. What exactly is there to oppose? Becks event will be positive and Al Sharpton’s will be angry and ridiculous.

Beck started his career as a morning DJ on the radio… I guess in your mind, we should all be judged by the first job we held. Ridiculous.

Maybe you should attend a restore honor event… all you have said about a person you dont know and dont watch, is moron, fraud, extreme, fringe and polarizing.
Real nice.

I’m a little confused. Why is it wrong for people to oppose the site of the Ground Zero Mosque because of “sensitivity” or the thought it is “hallowed ground” yet when the left does the same thing about Glenn Beck’s choice of rally site no one says a peep?

So, holding a rally on a particular day is insulting?

Glenn Beck’s plans for rally on a hallowed date and spot spurs countermarches

Social activists and civil rights leaders, among them the Rev. Al Sharpton, are planning marches and demonstrations – including the unveiling of a nearly four-story-tall original sculpture on the Mall – on Aug. 28 to coincide with a rally organized by Fox News personality Glenn Beck…

Civil rights leaders have denounced Beck’s plans, questioning his motives for choosing the date and place, which they said are historically symbolic of the country’s civil rights movement…

Beck’s choice of day and place for the rally "is insulting, is what it is," Marc Morial, president of the National Urban League, said in an interview Monday. “August 28 is something special. It is a day that means something in American history because it was the demonstration in the United States in support of civil rights.”

Exactly.

They are fringe and polarizing. That is what the words mean.
You sure have fallen for the lefts pathetic attempts to label anyone who disagrees with them.
Calling them fringe and polarizing has little to do with disagreeing with them. Polarizing: they are constantly the source of angry responses. Fringe: there is almost no one to their right. If you disagree, you are invited to find someone furher to the right that incites more anger. Alex Jones was mentioned. If only three or four media figures are to your right, and you make people angry routinely, you are fringe and polarizing.

It’s good to know Nancy Pelosi and Barney Frank are fringe and polarizing!😃

Beck and Palin are no more fringe and polarizing than Obama and Pelosi then.

Obama and Pelosi are polarizing, but not fringe.

There are huge blocs of the Democrats that are far to the left of both of them, particularly Obama. Check out the debates on the stimulus and healthcare, where the far left attacked them constantly for caving.

I’m sure if Nancy and Barry held a rally on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial to Restore Honor, there would be no reaction, and no one would claim it’s political.

Obama was far to the left of the health care package too. The fact that they both caved is the evidence that they are true believers too.
Othe than that, yea, the Democratic Party as a whole defines ‘fringe’ quite well. Far top the left of being liberal, that’s for sure.

But in terms of the values of the American people, Palin is not fringe at all really.

Yes, conservatives would respect their rights to do so.😛

Unlike those who oppose Mr. Beck.

The reason the Left is going to lose so badly this fall is their total disconnect with the Amercian people. Believing Sarah Palin is fringe and polarizing is an example of his disconnect.
