And this is a guy we should trust to give us unbiased opinions on the worlds happenings? Must be a liberal plot to ruin his effectiveness as a political commentator. 🙂

Mr. Beck is an entertainer. Having read parts of Arguing With Idiots, and still wondering why Glenn posed in a fake military uniform, I can’t take him seriously.

God bless,
Ed

I did not check the link provided but can offer my experience - for what it is worth.

Parishes are lined up along a spectrum from liberal(unorthadox) to conservative (orthadox). In the midwest US, where I reside, the churches that are liberal have a general tendency to promote social justice beyond what is normal. They need to “fill the gap” so to speak after rejecting some church teaching.

I started noticing this in my parish (very liberal) about 12 years ago. I visit other parishes in the area every month now to keep perspective.

My parish is very big on social justice. At the same time, I have suffered for years hearing the miracles in the Old Testament and New Testament watered down and ridiculed in the homily. I have heard the current pope seriously denounced, again, in the homily. You do not want to hear what I have experienced at this parish.

Again, this is a parish that is very big on social justice.

Have you seen this pattern?

A uniform that is half German nonetheless (it’s “Signal” and yes the design hasn’t changed much after the war). I assume the hat might be Russian to symbolize communism, but I could be wrong.
I don’t get it, really… I mean he has a ton of really great ideas, but when it comes to religion that guy puts on a pair of blinders…
I don’t think he really has a beef with the Catholic Church. I think he has a beef with everybody who is not a Libertarian and he thinks that the state should not intervene with church business and vice versa.
Other than that he does not have anything to do with the Catholic Church anyways… I mean he’s a Mormon, what does he care what the Pope preaches about “social justice”?

You kind of forgot the 3rd type…
Well if you listen to the guy, he is not conservative. For a conservative he hates the involvement of the state simply too much… He is a Libertarian…

My point in posting this link is that many people in this country take his verbiage as as gospel (no pun intended). Aren’t we, as Catholics, dedicated to social justice? I know that it is taught in Catholic high schools and colleges and I ,myself, teach it in Catholic grade school. Isn’t this what we are all about?

Believe it or not, Glenn Beck was raised Catholic. He said in an interview on CBS that when he met his wife to be, who was “a hot woman and a Mormon” he converted to Mormonism in order to marry her.

That sounds like he didn’t know his faith, and still doesn’t know anything about the Catholic faith OR the Mormon faith. It had nothing to do with faith, it had to do with being attracted to this beautiful woman.

He also said he had been an alcoholic, which may explain why he is so brain damaged that he appears to be psychotic most of the time. Describing him as psychotic is too generous. The man is a sociopath with no conscience and no moral grounding.

He also admitted that he makes a ton of money doing his show and doesn’t care that people take his nonsense seriously. He openly laughed at his viewers/followers.

And you certainly have proof for all of that.

Beck is an ex-Catholic. He never said though that you should run away from the Catholic Church. The Mormon Church preaches its own brand of social justice. I think the point he was trying to say is to stay away from individual local parishes and churches that preach socialism and the evils of capitalism. While I am a believer in the churches teachings on social justice, I also think capitalism is a good thing for the world. Like any man-made institution capitalism has flaws. I think though that socialism has more flaws than capitalism because socialism preaches an ideology that relies on the government to do all things instead of God. When you become dependent on the government, God becomes less necessary and you look to the government for answers and not your church. This is why my belief is that a limited government that restrains capitalism when it needs to be and imposes harsh penalties and individuals that defraud the public and do not abide by the contracts that they are bound by and a country that encourages personal charity and involvement in church groups that go about and care for the poor and in their teaching mission create a society that is bound by religion and morality. This is what the Founding Fathers intended. The Founding Fathers found it hard to separate religion from morality and saw churches as the way to keep man from misusing his freedom. The Founders believed in freedom with responsibility. Modern society believes in freedom without responsibility. We want a society that takes away religion and responsibility and wants morality only when it benefits ourselves. You cannot have a long lasting country without responsibility, religion and morality. This is why George Washington believed that a lack of religion was tantamount to treason. Religions regulate the passions and actions of mankind. Governments are a reflection of the moral and religious character of the nation. When you look at the government, you look at an institution that is a reflection of the values and sins of that culture. The sin today is to take God out of the equation altogether and replace God with the state. For men that look to God find hope in God and not the state. The modern secular values demand submission to the state. Government is called upon to solve every problem while God is relegated to the sidelines. God is the enemy of the state because God has the ultimate power over the rights of mankind and this power is what the government desires. The modern government desires to be god.

Glenn Beck is trying to scare people with the word “social”. He has no idea what social justice is.

Read Matthew 25 for more about social justice, i.e. corporal works of mercy. See what Jesus has to say about people who don’t do these acts.

I just wrote that Glenn Beck is a sociopath, but there is another word for a sociopath that doesn’t have the root word “socio-” in it, but means the same thing: Psychopath.

That is a person with no conscience who uses people to gain money, fame and power.

He has confused communism and socialism and, with his blackboard, has mutilated the Constitution and our government, twisting them into something of his own creation, with no concern about how his viewers and followers understand what he is really all about.

If your church is really leading you away from your faith because of social justice, please take another look at what Jesus said about it.

And I am sure you have proof for that too… Uh… I am right, right?

Do I have proof? I have watched his show, I have seen interviews with him on CBS and FOX that were not his own show.

As for my diagnostics-- look up the terms sociopath and psychopath and see if they don’t fit him.

Really the interviews with him were shocking in that he has no clue how much negative influence he has on people, while at the same time he boasts of how many fools follow him.

I think you may be able to look up the CBS interview where he said he had been an alcoholic, etc., online.

Otherwise, how do you expect me to prove it? You are right?

I don’t understand what you are saying.
I was just asking where the proof is. I mean you can’t put out any theological argument without having a link for support. Why would anybody just blindly accept talking bad about a person without proof? I wanted to make sure she had proof for her allegations and I asked twice.
I have heard that he was an alcoholic but I hadn’t heard that his wife was Mormon. As far as I know they were together (though not married) before joining the Mormon Church together and it was Glen’s oldest daughter who enjoyed it so much there, that she asked to go back there when they were looking around for a church to go to. Well they had gone looking for a church because of Glenn’s girlfriend: “She wouldn’t marry me unless we found a religion,” Glenn recalls. (If you don’t want to read it all skip to the heading “The Beck Family Church Tour”.)
Here is a second source for confirmation.
That is one of the reasons why I asked for proof. Not everything written here was true.

Found a little bit more… Well Glen said this about when he married his wife… “I apologize, but guys will understand this. My wife is, like, hot, and she wouldn’t have sex with me until we got married. And she wouldn’t marry me unless we had a religion.” (Source… apologies for the page I found it on…)
She wasn’t insisting on him becoming a Mormon in order to marry her. She insisted on them sharing a religion before she would agree to marry him.

Sociopath? Psychopath? He honestly doesn’t look a lot like a sociopath to me…
Want to know more about his personal life? Try this video or the proof links in post #17 right above this one.
