**Yoohoo? As I said in Post 829.

It is good to know that you are familiar with the CCHD. Then why do you pretend to not know what I am talking about? Why bring in the subject of sister parishes which has nothing to do with what I am discussing?

Very simply, you are “declaring” things that are unknown to me.
Yet you provide NO sources.

I provided one item to assist you,
ONE ITEM, known to me, that I posted as an act of charity to you.
Now - other supporting documents, sources, etc., must come from YOU.

I have heard of NOTHING like what you have presented.
Get it? No pretense at all.

These things are now known to you because I have just told you. Anyone who is familiar with the CCHD, as you appear to be, should know that hundreds of these Alinskyish community organizations exist. I have named a few. The Archdiocese of Chicago CCHD site should have the annual reports with more names of organizations. Perhaps other dioceses will have similar sites and maybe you can call the national office to see if they will provide you with a list. Ask your pastor and call your bishop.

Millions of collected dollars are granted every year through CCHD - what sort of organizations do you think receive these funds?

Monica, these things are things you have mentioned, without sources.
According to you, groups who receive the moneys are “Alinskyish.”
So far that info qualifies as your OPINION.
It’s counter-productive to say “I know this so it’s true.”

No. If you know it, provide your source, not random and wild accusations.
Name your examples, state your sources. Don’t just DECLARE it.
Don’t expect me to do your supportive research!

If you are not willing to google some of these groups, I cannot help you. What kind of source do you want? These community organizations are often affiliated with Alinsky’s IAF. I attended a couple Lake County United meetings and they were selling Alinsky’s books. You have to take my word for that - cannot provide a link to a meeting I attended.

Which of my accusations were wild?

Giving a Lake County United meeting as a source is wild.
Are you talking about the United Way groups?
Yes, they allot funds to Church programs but United Way is in no way Catholic.

Go back to your first few posts. See what’s wild - and unsubstatiated.
The Church giving moneys to abortion programs. Please! That’s wild.
Name it with a source or don’t say it.

Lake County United - not United Way. Lake County United receives dues from local Lake County Catholic parishes and also receives CCHD funds. They are affilited with the IAF (they send members to IAF training).

Chicago 2007 CCHD annual report lists the accomplishment of the Interfaith Leadership Council as securing $400,000 in state funds to help open an Access Health Clinic in Cicero. Access provides contraception and is and advocate for abortion. Like I wrote in an earlier post, the pro-abortion part is not on their website anymore but I do have the printout from an earlier time.

You have the info - look it up.

Ok. Lake County United. It’s news to me.
Since you are Catholic and aware of this activity
(parishes contributing to abortion providers) it’s now
become your responsibility to inform the Archdiocese.
That is actually the way it’s supposed to work.
You have the data, you do the right thing.
As I said, what you’re saying is all news to me.
I left Chicago ten years ago.
Cardinal George is profoundly pro-life, thank God,
so now YOU inform him. (I’ve done it about issues in the past.)

The ball is in your court.

Monica, now that you’ve given some documentaion, needless to say I believe you
and I fully understand how horrified you are by this. (Been there, done that.)
The only way that I know for you to feel you are taking action is to intiate
contact with Cardinal George.

Simple write to him.

Label the letter “Urgent” and “Personal” on the envelope.
Also, include your return address on the envelope
and within, use your full name, address and parish.

I can almost promise you
the Cardinal will receive and read your letter.

I am sure you agree that no one can “blame” the Church
if one is uncertain that the Church is truly aware of serious problems.

God bless you.

Of course I informed the Archdiocese about the Interfaith Leadership Council/Access Clinic when I first found out about it. To the best of my knowledge a letter was sent stating the Churches teaching on abortion/contraception. The ILC still gets Catholic money and has Parish members.

Do you believe that the laity is supposed to continually watch the activities of the Archdiocese and inform them when they take action opposed to their own teaching - do you think that this is how it should work? I would think the laity should be able to be confident that the bishops would not continually support structures that work against Church teaching. We should not have to keep an eye on our leaders.

I believe that we are many and our leaders are very few.
I believe we have a profound obligation to share concerns with them.
I believe it should (and does) work this way.
We are not children.
We are as committed to our Faith as our bishops are.
We are to protect the teachings of the Church just as the bishops are.
We are adult Catholics.

There is a time and a place for everything. Stop trying to rough Monica up…she does not owe you anything. You have slandered Beck up one side and down the other…with nothing but hear say to go on…so how can you rough her up to press her for facts when you have none regarding Beck?
Not quite heresay if you have his original words on tape. See the OP. Nobody forced him to say what he said.

After several warnings, this thread has devolved into squabbling.
Therefore it is closed.
