That’s exactly how I pray it. When there are two versions of the LOTH given, as happened one time when an Augustinian nun and I joined together. We mutually agreed on which version to use.
She was delighted that I had learned to chant the office while visiting the Trappist monastery in Conyers.
The same doxology that I learned as a child is the only one that I have ever seen or used, whether reciting the rosary or in the LOTH,
The rosary came out of the peasantry from a desire to join monks in their daily prayer. No, I do not see any irony.
What is important is the encouragement, and not the discouragement of prayer.
