Over last weekend I had the pleasure of attending the Go West Catholic Mens conference in Pendleton, Oregon. It was much more than just a pleasure. It was a awakening of what Catholic men should be and do.
If you are not aware of this event, it is a conference sponsored by the priest Father Bailey Clemens and members of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pendleton. It is for the purpose of inspiring men to seek holiness and truth. It inspired me to see over 500 men (not women and children) get together in the little town of Pendleton, Oregon miles from the main population centers of Oregon and join in getting closer to their Catholic beliefs and rejoice in asking Jesus and Mary to help them be better men. A real blessing for me.
Cardinal Burke, prefect of the Apostolic Signature in Rome, Italy saw fit to honor the event with his presence as did Bishop Robert Vasa of the Diocese of Backer, Oregon. Both gave inspiring talks about the world we live in and how Catholic men should work in this world to bring it closer to Jesus and Mary.
I am unable to express in words the effect this conference had on me. I hope this short note may help other men to get involved in meetings like this to work to create a better world for our families to live in.
