Well I hope that you do not try to draw too broad a conclusion from the responses from this very specific scenarioā¦Some very well though out answers. This question isnāt realy about Islam. Itās just the religion that I chose to use because of itās beleif in the same god as Christians. The point of the question is if a person would convert to another religion if they had a religious experience, or if they woul just try to explain it away as demonic activity or hallucination.
Hello Hunter24,Ok, letās say you are walking down the beach one day and suddenly there is a brilliant flash of light. There standing infront of you is God, just as you alwase pictured him. He tells you how proud he is of you for being such a devoted follower of him and he loves you very much, thereās just one problem. He hands you a small package, you open it, and inside is a Koran!!! Then wooosh he and the book are gone.
What would you do? Convert to Islam? Try to explain it away? What?
Lol it was just a hypothetical question. I know quite a bit about Catholicism from my schooling. I didnāt leave because i didnāt know it, I left because I didnāt beleave it. And honestly my own religion has nothing to do with this question. How are there āerroneous assumptionsā here? Its a hypothetical, a āwhat if?ā.Hello Hunter24,
Now thatās what I call a loaded question and full of erroneous assumptions. Truly, truly, the man who said and I paraphrase: those who leave the Catholic Church do so because they do not know their faith; spoke true words. In your question you demonstrate the veracity of this statement. It may have been Bishop Sheen who I heard make that statement. I hope someone would post who it was that said such true words.
Itās extraordinary that people can go through 12 years of studies in a Catholic institution and come out knowing so little about their faith. No wonder you joined Wicca. How disappointing that the instructors and deans did not assure that their curriculum covered essential and important aspects of the faith that would assure a good grounding.
I hope and pray that you stick around CAF and learn a little about yours and our faith. I hope that you really take it upon yourself to learn the Catholic faith - you will never regret it. Your heart will finally find that for which it has been longing.
God has already revealed himself through something that nobody else can do; Fulfilled prophecy. You need to be above time to write prophecy.Ok, letās say you are walking down the beach one day and suddenly there is a brilliant flash of light. Christianity is based on more than an internal āreligious experienceā whatever the heck that means. Some very well though out answers. This question isnāt realy about Islam.
