My own big questioning of my cradle-Catholicity came a couple decades ago, listening to Joseph Campbell mythology talks. Discernment is everything. Coming from your non-denominational background, I would suggest checking into Marcus Grodi’s Coming Home series, as it addresses multiple experiences of non-Cathoilic Christians coming into the Church. Also, maybe (from personal experience), seeking/“recognizing” signs from God is not the best means of discernment. Certainly wrestle with your faith, but do so most personally, for that is Jesus before us. Expand to seek, with Him, the community that best enfolds His and your mutual desire.
St. Thomas Moore says it best in “A Man for All Seasons” when he tells his daughter that God gave us a mind to wrestle with the earthly implications of our faith, which also included for him, our denominational choices.
I pray that, sitting with our Lord, you sense His specific directions. You are already going His way. God bless you and keep you. If you don’t know him, I also recommend Bishop Barron’s Catholic evangelization ministerial movement, “Word on Fire”. Peace.
