I just found this in one of our threads Barbara Therese and it is how I love to the core, and offer each day, as an offering of a living sacrifice to our God. There is no other who could take us and do better with us than our God who is LOVE. So I tell Him to take me clean me (prune) me so that others may find the faith and strength to follow a God whoi s Love Mercy and blessing.

What greater way to live than to be an offering a living sacrifice to the Almighty God who is Love, who is “I AM”.
A living Prayer; a call to the Gospel

St. Paul to the Romans - Chapter 12
1 I BESEECH you therefore, brethren, by the mercy of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, pleasing unto God, your reasonable service.
2 And be not conformed to this world; but be reformed in the newness of your mind, that you may prove what is the good, and the acceptable, and the perfect will of God.

What better way do we have to say thank you to God than to unite our lfe upon the Altar with Jesus in His perfect sacrifice that too make our life also a sacrifice with Jesus. In the ***Living Prayer ***of my life
…Amen…

Oh! it is this that is my purification at present. Satin tries to get hold of my abilities and throw them at me since I work in a place where I could become sombody in the flesh. But it is this very treasure I cling to that I cry out “Jesus purify me, prune me of these thoughts of these abilities, do with me what You need so that You might be glorified”.
2 And be not conformed to this world; but be reformed in the newness of your mind, that you may prove what is the good, and the acceptable, and the perfect will of God.

God does not give to any person more than they are able to go through, and He never gives less to that person than the grace to go through it for His own glory. Other wise there would not be glory at all.

That is very deep and very profound…very!..

I think you will all know what I mean and I believe it relates to you all.

About 30 odd years ago Jesus gave me a gift that I could not understand why, at the time.
He said “I will give you my Love a love the world does not understand”. I asked Jesus why He gave this gift to me, I had done nothing to earn it, and I am the least" I didn’t matter to others, I had nothing to offer . He said (and this is the point I think you will understand about yourselves) I give you this gift because I could find no other more worthless, had I, then I would have given it to them".

My humanness came in and I thought that it was an insult. But I realised that God’s ways are not our ways they are so fare removed from the earth. Worthless I realised is the cornerstone rejected, and that makes it easier for me to relate to being put down, rejected, etc. No more and no less than Therese, you, Jesus went through.
It all makes everything worth while.
This is the very essence of living for those who might wish to be littleones I believe. SO,o dependent on God’s Love and pure providence.
But it is not by my doing no,

Love reaks through this prayer

O Holy Spirit, Great Paraclete
Thou Who in toil art comfort sweet
Grant me, I beseech Thee
The priceless gift of Fortitude
That through it all,
dread of danger overcome,
I may stand firm in all temptations,
And may be strong to follow
generously Jesus Christ my Lord.
Amen.

Thank you

Thank you very much for sharing, LittleOne. There is for me a deep humility that underlies your posts and makes them most endearing and appealling…and at times, very profound -sound theologically. I think you have chosen a User Name that is very apt.🙂

God sees us as being poor and broken, and so should we see those who do not have faith as poor and broken.

Don’t scorn them, feel compassion and sorrow for them. Most of all, pray for them.

In Christ Jesus

Jim I always get encouragement from you and thank God for giving you the gift of wisdom, it is very rear in this age but although there are those who see you as not having the gift the strength for you I know, comes from your (our) God in heaven.

I want to go back to this thread and explain something I hope ou might see that don’t seem to be able to, I hope it doesn’t get me off side.
The cross in me is one of the “mind”, I have been through some horrific things in life none less painful than the other but the outcome seems the hardest for me and I fight it each day.
I don’t have bipoler or anything like that, but through an accident which crushed my scull, 6 months latter meningitus, then an operation where in all casses the Drs thought I would be better off dead and I was told that they shared this thought with my parents which I overheard latter.
All this happened when I was 11 yrs of age. From that time on I determaned to love Jesus who had never said these things to me so I grew in love for Him, giving my self for Him to do with what ever He wanted to. But the war went on and still does in my mind and I have no controll over it. One day I can spell but the next or even through the same day I can’t. I have no concept of word structure and Ihave tried to understand but it goes right over my head for some reason.
I have been favioured with an eceptional ability in art of many forms one of which is Maori wood carving and sketching, understanding what the music is telling the singer even in some language Ihave no understanding of.
Another gift is to see into the needs of peole where I might not say anything or much but but people come out of their negative thoughts or anger to the point of forgiving each other.

In a shock to many, I went to University, gained two degree in Psych and Post grad dipin HR. I have gone into counselling and love it, but when I get there those who I work with question me and my spelling and that I tell the truth of how I have set the people free. I seem to be able to speak into the people mot to the head but the inner parts. Sometimes it happens in one session and amazing things happen in front of my and other peoples eyes miricals that are not suposed to happen and people are set ree.

Well this all causes me much anguish and loss of job because people tell me I have to keep the client there for us to gain more money??? Even the job ( security ), I now have it is the same, people are set free and I can’t help it, it just happens, but all I get is put down by my work mates. It has happened in every job. i would love to counsell again, I work at the main hospital where I see the needs for counsellors but because of the amount of writing and my spelling I stay away.
I find it hard to learn jobs and it takes me so long to learn compared to others that I don’t try for other jobs but through it all, I know Jesus is there. I end up in tears His touching my spirit, often as I walk the area of the hospital securing the wards and car parks.
I think that I can learn to do a job and wonder why others see what I can’t, how do they understand and not I. I cry out at times and that is my fight of the flesh against the spirit. My spirit is so strong and it leads my eyes in the human sence to want the fleshly job, but the spirit says to Jesus "I don’t need that Lord, all I need is You, and Your Love and I thank Him for it. This is the fight inside of me each day where I see people set free by my presence but what happens in me. It’s like AAAAAAAAAAA The flesh and the spirit.
Thanks fo letting me write this I got it out at last.

God bless

Thank you for sharing that, Little One. As I read a passage from the Old Testament occured to me “As gold is tested in fire, so the servants of God are tested in the crucible of suffering”. I hope you can be secure and at Peace in the knowledge that The Lord is with you always even when you cannot feel this - and indeed that He works through you reaching out to others with His Healing…this can exist in the most dreadful sufferings and cross. The example of Mother Teresa and her 40 year long Dark Night are a recent example. And it is felt that possibly St. Teresa of Avila also endured the Dark Night over 40 years.

The common denominator of holiness is the cross - there is no holiness nor sanctity without it.

Thank you again for sharing…I dont think it would have been easy either. Received the gift of your sharing with loving gratitude …

Blessings, Peace and Joy…Barb:)

Thank you for being very honest. I am very sorry for all of your suffering especially the suffering when you were so little. Your parents must have been heart broken to hear those words about their child and now they must have great joy seeing you here everyday and having achieved so much.🙂

The gifts you have little one, the world cannot understand. Infact you cannot fully understand them yourself. A person who has a gift from God does not know the depths and great mysteries of the gift, but simply knows they should use the gift.

Perhaps you would like to pray to the Holy Spirit and ask Him for opportunities and ways to use your gift that He has given to you and to be able to serve Jesus generously. I am sure you have already done this, but as each day is new and a recreation by God’s mercy, then everyday I ask for ways to serve Jesus in my little way and to give me little opportunities to spread a little love and a little kindness. I always think that a great amount of peace is spread simply by smiling at someone. So I make a firm resolve to smile at all people I meet everyday and it doesn’t matter how sad my heart may feel, I try to smile and it doesn’t matter if in my heart I see someone and it is someone I’d rather not see, I make a smile and give them a little bit of love.

I think perhaps we would like to do great things for God especially if a person has been given a gift, but the job, the role in life, the money or lack of money is not important, what is important is to resolve to do just little kindnesses and ask the Holy Spirit for these little opportunities to do little things.

In any event little one, God may give a gift but it is not ours, we cannot direct it, nor can we decrease it or increase it, nor can we keep or give it way, we are simply channels and we can do nothing and God does everything.

Sometimes we are looking in the wrong place to use a gift. Sometimes God takes us away from one place where He has had us serve only to lead us to another place. Perhaps it is your time to move on to another place to use your talents and gifts and perhaps it is the poorest of the poor you are called to serve. You might like to go and volunteer one night or day a week at a homeless centre where people are so desperate to simply sit and talk to someone. Helping people and healing people here is not dictated by money! Ask the Holy Spirit to lead you to where He wants you to be.

Be at peace with where God has you presently in His Providence , always trusting Him and ask Him to give you little opportunities to serve Him everyday so that everday your life is a beautiful prayer to God.

The love, kindness and peace of Jesus to you.

In the Living Prayer of my life.

🙂 I say the same too to all of the above.

And despite not suffering these things I still write trash. I still try and put the iron away in the fridge.

I work with a very talented art teacher, she can’t spell. So what, she is a talented artist and she is one of the most compassionate people I know. I work with her the day through and then even though she sees me all day, I will get home and find she has sent me a lovely card or note in the mail. Through periods of sickness she is always on my doorstep with flowers, cards and books for me to read while I rest.

We all have a talent.

Pray for me littleone.
Yes, when I say you are on my prayer chain I say that God does not half the graces to others when we pray for one person or many. ALL get the same amount.
I will pray it is the least i can do, please do the same for me, and in thanks before hand. God bless you right now.

I hope you don’t find this out of place Jim but I am so encouraged by your words and little as they might be, God touches me deeply through them, you do nothing to make it happen other than to do His will, thank you. I say it this way to keep it from changing any thing. Have I a mentor? Yes I have some and some are in this thread, thank you all.

There is great beauty in all your posts, LittleOne…great beauty and humility, gentleness and meekness with spiritual insight…you are greatly gifted indeed - greatly …and gifted spiritually which is the greatest gift God can give.
I can spell and know a bit about grammar but my art has not passed beyond that of a child…my maths is appalling and my memory even worse. I had to drop out of my computer class as I was too dumb for anything but how to touch type which I learnt years ago! I am prone to saying the most ridiculous things in class and teachers and fellow students collapse into laughter…and all because I speak before I think. I have a nickname now and then “Dumbo!” And none of these things are the result of some sort of injury…the nickname incidentally is not meant to hurt - it is all in good fun. A man I once worked for got so infuriated over something I had stupidly done, he said “It defies logic how someone so intelligent can be so outstandingly dumb and stupid”…and he was very cross at the time as I had indeed done something dumb and stupid.
None of these things are the result of any sort of injury.
After all, what is the big deal and being able to spell and construct sentences if their content is appalling in some way. I have Bipolar Disorder and if it shows it is acutely embarrassing, so I know, dear friend, where you are coming from. But please dont be in any way concerned about any difficulties…
…we aren’t - rather we look forward to the insight which so often shows in your posts!

God’s Blessings with His Peace and His Joy - Barb:)

Barb I chose this on purpose as you will understand, I know.
A man I once worked for got so infuriated over something I had stupidly done, he said “It defies logic how someone so intelligent can be so outstandingly dumb and stupid”…and he was very cross at the time as I had indeed done something dumb and stupid.
None of these things are the result of any sort of injury, least is my being a littleone, no it is God’s design.

No there are no injuries in God’s eyes, He has allowed these things to happen so that His mercy His love His generosity can be manifest be known in this world.
Jesus tells us that the time of the end will not come until ALL mankind knows God. We have been chosen in this garden, given these very pressious tools to till the soil, to plant more seed, to water the carden.
It is NOT by injury as the world sees, but by God’s injury of the initial sin. And God is turning the tide.

There are many words from your heart in this note Barb. Non less than to say that it is this very people who the world rejects neglects, refuses, condemns, crucifys, who God on high lifts up and is anointed by, through His own doing.
In the pressious garden of God on this earth there are many weeds and stones but Jesus tells us that not one stone will be left unturned. The weeds will be uprooted at the same time as the good fruit. Those who judge will be judged by God (in their turn it will be God’s allowing them to stand in front of Him and their own sin will judge.
We who are the least are in God’s eyes those who have the least in the head for more has been given in the heart and it is this giving that God has given that is our nurishment we have to give the world.
When the soul is given the chance to love there is no room for other than LOVE. Love drives out all thought of not loving Jesus.

Quoting LittleOne:
None of these things are the result of any sort of injury, least is my being a littleone, no it is God’s design.
Hi there again LittleOne…the last bit of the quote above was not in my Post “least is my being alittlone, no it is God’s design”…however…Whoever indeed I am, LittleOne, it is indeed God’s Design. Who I am, who we are, is a very interesting and really big question. Even my name is not really mine or ‘who I am’. My name “Barb or Barbara” is simply a tag or UserName my Mum and Dad gave to a little baby born to them 62 years ago…and the same applies for us all. We are all creatures and children of God…but if you really think about that statement it is overwhelmingly astounding and mysterious!!!
No there are no injuries in God’s eyes, He has allowed these things to happen so that His mercy His love His generosity can be manifest be known in this world.
I think my so called Bipolar Disorder (some psychiatrists say the diagnosis is correct, others incorrect - some that I am not mentall ill at all. Rather I simply went through a big problem period in my life). I stick with Bipolar Disorder as it is convenient and if one knows about Bipolar some very great people of marked social contribution have suffered Bipolar - hence it is no disgrace for sure. I’ve told all these doctors and opinions, that they can call me a pineapple upside down cake if they like…a tag is only a tag. Whoever or whatever I am, I thank God indeed for the great gift of life…all the rest from ‘man’ is their problem to my way of thinking. To often I have seen people bow under the weight of a ‘tag’ or socially derogatory term and loose confidence and self esteem…and what happens in effect, is that their whole life is destroyed, their gifts and their potential, and all by a term and tag that society uses to state “less than” “not normal” etc. etc. Society is not The Lord - pas de toute!!! Not at all! And if God has seen fit to make me as I am, then it sure is good enough for me and should be, really, good enough for all others.
Jesus tells us that the time of …edit for wordcount…to plant more seed, to water the carden.
It is NOT by injury as …edit wordcount…initial sin. And God is turning the tide.
Indeed, LO! indeed! Pope Benedict made a speech and I’ll post the link if posters would like it “The Mentally Ill, a faithful image of God”. We preach and we claim a crucified saviour, Jesus. As Scripture tells us our crucified Lord was repugnant to the eyes of men…hence no disgrace whatsoever if one is in some way 'socially below standard". Sanity or normality is an ever shifting imaginary line set by society.
There are many words from …edit for wordcount…crucifys, who God on high lifts up and is anointed by, through His own doing.
Amen…God chose that the world should be saved through the cruel crucifixion of His Son. The reason, I think, why St. Paul called The Cross, a stumbling block. Is because we a as a society still stumble over the truth, when we see someone not quite socially ‘nice’ and ‘normal’, because we fail to see the Truth that is really there - The Cross. Society still crucifies, huh?
In the pressious garden of God on this earth there are many weeds and stones but Jesus tells us that not one stone will be left …edit wordcount…be judged by God (in their turn it will be God’s allowing them to stand in front of Him and their own sin will judge.
I do not fear God as much as I fear man.
We who are the least are in God’s eyes those who have the least in the head for more has been given in the heart and it is this giving that God has given that is our nurishment we have to give the world.
All that has happened is that with some in this world, the image of The Crucified Saviour is in some way reproduced…but if we see only with the eyes of this world, we cannot see that.

When the soul is given the chance to love there is no room for other than LOVE. Love drives out all thought of not loving Jesus.

Amen!..Life can be the stuggle and the search on how to Love as God loved…what an overwhelmingly BIG matter to say the least. In the final analysis, only God Himself can grant that totally unearned gift which will not be absolutely fulfilled until the Beatific Vision. I think the Souls in Purgatory have some notion of just why we should truly love and cherish each other to asbolute abandon.

***God Bless you also, LO…Peace and Joy…regards…Barb:) ***

Dear LittleOne…I ask your forgiveness for editing your quotes, or part of them, from my previous post. The computer kept telling me my wordcount was excessive. Apologies!

The final thing I really did want to say but could not because of the jolly wordcount…and LO it is not addressed to you - rather a general statement.

Any person who will put any person at all and I dont care what their defects or mental disorder, injury etc. may be, on some lower human, social or spiritual scale, is not seeing with the eyes of God, with the eyes of Jesus…rather with the eyes of this world. Nor are they seeing reality, rather their own delusions passed on and embraced from this world. Pretty heavy, I know, but I did want and need to say it. Nor are patronizations and condescencions any sort of Charity whatsoever even in a remote sense, rather it is the superior attitude of a social, human and spiritual “snob”…and patronizations and condescensions show and show very bright and loud.

God’s Blessings with His Joy and His Peace…regards…Barb:)
LO, I really stress that that was not at all even in a remote sense directed at or for you.

**THE MENTALLY ILL **
- A FAITHFUL IMAGE OF GOD

tinyurl.com/yr722a

This article is from Aust. Catholic News and very briefly summarizes the article below. This comment is of interest to me:
Cardinal Javier Lozano Barragan told his World Day of the Sick audience in Adelaide yesterday that while the mentally ill patient “escapes classification as a normal person”, he or she remains “an image of God” deserves every normal respect.
“Normal” within society is actually over the span of ‘civilized’ society, actually an ever shifting imaginary line which defines “the most common” as the “normal”. However, simply because a certain thinking, idea or concept is the most common does not necessarily by definition make it “normal”, right or truthful. Even psychiatry and psychology agree they have no idea at all what is in truth “normal” for a human being; however, Jesus is said to be the most perfect human being that ever lived, so I take my concept of what is normal as being Jesus, since theologically speaking we are all called to perfection hence that is the normal for a human being “be ye perfect as Your Heavenly Father is Perfect” “He who sees Me, sees The Father” I and The Father are one".
Was Jesus a wishy washy goody two shoes? Absolutely not. He was not at all fearful of standing in direct opposition to authority and being critical, pointing out how He thought things should be, how things should run. That was His character and personality as a strictly human being, Fully Man. He happened to be right in it all because as well as Fully Man, He was at once also Fully God. This is an absolutely staggering and mind boggling awesome matter to ponder.

The Mentally Ill – A Faithful Image of God - Speech of Cardinal Barragan.

I was very wrong in a previous Post, it was not the Pope that made this speech it was a Cardinal. His Eminence made his speech in my home town of Adelaide, South Australia. I did not go, however, the seats were too expensive. Sometimes I think The Church presupposes that Catholics all have a car, money and the internet. For one the greater majority of people suffering so called “mental illness” here in Sth.Aust. are on disability pensions and as very poor as the very poorest Church mouse. We can barely feed ourselves and pay our bills – more often in fact, sufferers on the DSP (disability pension) cannot. There was not even any cheap seats made available for the sufferers of mental illness. No one wanted to have to contact Diocesan Offices and plead poor-reasons kept to myself. Memory serving, the seats were over $150.

I warn - the whole speech is very lengthy and to completely understand one needs to read it all and with care to get things into the context. For myself, some things I would take to task with His Eminenance, other things I completely agree with.
If you read the whole speech, you will see that mental illness has its origin in the brain and in physical problems and misfunctions, disfunctions, in that brain. Hence “mentally ill” is a complete misnomer. Rather, misfunctioning mentally is a symptom of an underlying physical cause and hence so called “mental Illness” is in reality a “Physical Illness”. If you sit down with sufferers of so called “mental Illness” in the main you will discover that they are quite intelligent ‘normally’ functioning human beings in every way and that any so called ‘mental’ problems are episodic. Outside of these episodes, you would also discover that these sufferers of so called, misnamed, mental illness many of them, have rich spiritual lives and prayer lives. It is also a fact that most sufferers of MI (so called) are religious people of Faith.
There is more I’d like to say, but if I decide to say it, I will start a thread.

The Cardinal:
Therefore, once the mental illness has caused such a disorder as to take away from the mentally ill patient any responsibility for his actions, qualifying them as separation from the divine will -as a sin- the mental patient cannot separate from God. In other words, the image of God in him cannot be distorted. In this case his knowledge or his volitive option are no longer sufficient to motivate any human action that separates him from God. His bodily and psychic conditions do not allow him to commit a grave sin, given that in his state of disequilibrium he does not have that full knowledge and ability of assent required
